    Heater and Winterization Question - 12 RZ2

So I finally picked up my boat after having all the vinyl replaced (warranty issue - long story) from the dealer who winterized my boat as well. Who ensured me everything was woking fine after they ran it up to temp. So I am enjoying my first day out on the lake and I see what I think is smoke coming from front of the boat. I immediately stop the boat thinking the wet sounds bluetooth and sub wiring job has gone really bad. Only to find out my heater is pouring water - at first I thought it is a loose hose and then I see water pouring out the main core.

A couple of questions before I call the dealer tomorrow. First thing is how can I shut the flow of water off to the heater? I though pulling the fuse would help, but forgot it is always running water through it. Secondly, what winterization should of been done to the heater? Clearly, someone did not winterize it properly or this is a catastrophic part failure. Any similar experiences?

Thanks for the help. I did not let a little hot water ruin my day, although 160 degree water was a bit warm running town the interior carpet.

Thats usually where they crack from improper winterization. That would be my guess. Probably got missed.

Yep sounds like a cracked heater core you can just by pass it for now hook the line going in and the line coming out together good to go!!

X2 with boardman sounds like faulty winterization. They should of drained the water and blew out the lines. I have even heard of some running anti-freeze in some areas.

When you say hook the lines together - do you just buy like a hose splitter adapter at home depot and tighten them together? I assume this is done at the heater unit it self correct? I have not really looked to much at the lines coming into the heater. Thanks for the help and input - my thoughts were confirmed.

Yes take the lines off the heater and use a 1/2 " nipple and two hose clamps it definitely sounds like a bad winterization job did they make sure to get antifreeze into the heater core?
