    TAPS

I did a search, and then ran through all the non archived posts.

I got my TAPS working again a few weeks ago. Yesterday I took my boat out, and I moved it from 8 to 1. It was fine. Then I wanted to move it back, and it wouldn't move. So I pulled the dash apart (I have a few tools I take along for minor surgury) and played with the connections. I finally got it to about 6.5.

Today I was going to fix it. When I push the button, I hear the solonoid engaging, and the motor turn. However, the motor sounds like an RC car on dead batteries. Just barely moves. I also noticed the ATF level was a tiny bit low. I plan on filling that up again.

Any ideas why the motor is doing that? Did the motor go out?

    Thanks,

    Robb

    Update

I went out again. I used a power and ground jumper from the battery. Just for a half second at a time. Still the motor barely moves. Then I connected it back to the wiring harness. When using the TAPS button it doesn't do much, but the wires got really hot. I'm thinking there is power to the motor, but it's not using it. Or maybe the ground is bad.

    Please help.

If the wires are getting hot, then you have a short somewhere. I'm surprised you didn't blow a fuse.
