The theory for the brake fluid is that if the tranny is slipping then the rubber will expand and stop slipping. It worked for a late model truck and he thought it might work here to. I am not planning to do it but I thought I would bring it up on the list to see if anyone had heard of it.
If its not fun, Why do it?

Simple. When the boat no longer runs because the transmission is fried; the boat sits quietly in the water. No more cavitation. Jees, I thought you knew a lot.

Your tranny isn't slipping, you're sucking air under the boat. What you need to do put put some weight in the bow. This will actualy make the wake better for surfing anyways. Untill you do you need to run with your TAPS at 1. This will help but it won't fix. Allen is the only one here who has replied who actually has a flat bottom Tige besides me and you and he doesn't use any ballast. I use ballast. If I fill up the back and not the front and throw everyone in the back it will suck air all day long. With the front and back filled it will plow out a bithin' wake and won't suck air. With no weight in the front and extra weight in the back you are creating an angle that is sucking air down to the prop. This really isn't a problem for newer Tiges as they all have some V to the hull all the way back. Our "old" Tiges have the big negative chines that extend back past where the hull really starts to flatten out. Add that to a hull attitude that is big time "bow up"and you are going to suck air since the hull basically seals off the sides with the chines and directs everthing right to the prop. Weight your boat evenly front to back and report back.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

You're only saying that because he's no longer active on the board.

I am thinking the guys that recommended 'sucking air' win this discussion. I added about 400LB of fat sac under the glove compartment and the issue went away. We hit some big chop on the way back from skiing yesterday and had no issue. The Tige' mechanic looked at the strut and shaft and said there were no issues. Hopefully this is solved.

                  Thanks!

SUCKED! My next challenge is to figure out how to weight the boat so that it is a clean wake back atleast 55 feet. Right now it is clean back to about 50 foot at 21 MPH.

Ok, now that we know cavitation was the issue, you need to get a 50/50 weight distribution if you're adding ballast. It would be helpful for us to know how much you're adding and where. Also, you might want to check to make sure you TAPS is working properly (easy to test out of the water). You can use TAPS to clean up the wake at a variety of speeds.

No way! How was the surf wake? Just keep playin' with it. It'll straigten out.
