Need that organization that helps when locals want to ban wakesurfing/boating...

One of our local lakes, Newman Lake, apparently has a group of residents trying to rile up the county commissioners into restricting or banning large-wake activities. I have a friend with property on that lake and he passed up a new boat when he heard this was going on. I don't want this cancer to take hold and spread.

I've heard there's an industry organization that has helped when this has happened elsewhere. Anyone know who that is and how to contact them?

Here's a link to a local story on the topic.

WAboating, I remember reading a thread where I think both Larry from FAE and surfdad from flyboywakesurf.com were involved when some states were trying to ban wakesurfing. I would start out reaching out to them and they might know who to put you in contact with.

I've been on that lake a few times and it's completely dominated by tubers. It's almost impossible to get a good session in unless you're on there at dawn. I can see how the property owners want to try to reduce the overall traffic on the lake but banning wakeboats is not going to make a difference. Most of the boats on that lake are not wakeboats, they are standard runabout I/Os who mostly pull tubers and aspiring wakeboarders. Let me know what I can do to help WABoating.

I've forwarded the URL to the guy, and am waiting on a response from the PM's I sent. We'll see. Not my favorite lake either but these things can spread like cancer... we need to nip it in the bud. Thanks!
