How to dry start my Z1

Hey guys, so as some of you may know I am new to tige and this is my first inboard Vdrive. I came from an I/O where I was able to put an adapter on my engine and connect it to my garden hose (believe they are called engine muffs) and start the boat up at home before hitting the lake to make sure everything is ready to go. Was curious to know how do you do this with inboards? do they make an adapter for it? Is it as simple? All info/products would be great thanks!

Most people call it fake-a-lake. Basically it is a plunger with a hose connection on it and a telescoping handle. You can buy them at most any marine supply store (or make one with hardware parts). It gets wedged under the boat to cover the water intake scoop.

Well look at that, exactly what im looking for. So it works the same way as the I/O muff? Put it over the water intake scoop, turn on hose, and power up the boat?

Hey now - I did mention that he could make his own with hardware parts.

And did you really have to use a blue plunger on yours? Doesn't match either of your boats

Definitly, my homeade fake a lake has a black rubber plunger, that would look much better against your black hull, paint the handle red and your in business.

Might even win PW of the month again

I made my own like Iwndr did and it has worked great for 7 years.

That hose barb may set you back .75 though
