    Replacing the re-called tower locks.

Has anyone changed the tower locks out that were recalled to the new screw type? I have the new style, just need to install them. Looks like I have to drill and tap a hole through the bottom to install a set screw that will hold the threaded bushing in place. Any help is appreciated.

I just picked up an 09 22ve and the local dealers said he would still do it for me under warranty as the boat originally came from them. You might want to check your dealer and see if they will do it for you.

I'm a couple hours away from dealer. But he did send me the directions to do it this morning. Pretty much what I guessed it would be.

Anyone know why they switched to the screw in type? I still have the old style and get some clunking noises while in rough water. Will the screw in type eliminate that problem?

The old types have a tendency to loosen up and rattle. I put my tower up and down every time I take it in and out of my garage so I prefer the old types. The dealer I bought my boat from did tighten the locking pins pretty good though, so I don't have the loose rattling problems other had. There was also a thread on here a while ago about a screw type not connecting fully and either getting jammed or broken so there are pros and cons to both types.
