I am interested as well. I have a 2009 RZ4. Any idea on price? Are you guys just removing the carpet and putting epoxy over the existing floor? What are you using on the aluminum flooring section?

Looks like ~$500 for the basic floor covering. Logos, borders, etc. are adders.

I will be pulling the carpet, sanding relatively smooth, and then just laying down the Deckadence. I don't intend (at the moment) to put down a layer of epoxy or anything else. Might change my mind once I see how it feels. As for the aluminum (the hatch cover), same thing - sand smooth and then drop the new material on top of it.

Can you see if they have a template for the 2009 RZ4? If not do they send the kit or do we just make it ourselves? I put the seadek on last year and used their kit and it worked out pretty good. Is this the same or similar?

Had a great conversation with Paul at Deckadence...

This will be a bit lengthy, but I don't want to leave anything out.

Paul is a great guy. Very helpful, very friendly. I have a much better understanding of their business now. They seem to have two main markets: OEM's like Tige, and one-offs for everything from inboards to really enormous yacht-class vessels. Along the way they acquire templates for various makes, years, and models.

Templates are their single biggest headache. The reason is because there can be subtle floor layout changes from year to year within the same model name, or because (especially in those big ships) the owner had something custom added that affected the floorplan like an extra cooler locker, shrink/enlarge some compartment by moving a wall, change the type of captain's chair (and thus its base mounting/footprint), etc.

Sometimes a template for a given year also applies to several other years of that same model. Other times the exact same named boat has a different floorplan, and thus the template for one year does NOT apply to another.

Getting the templates is a huge pain, too. They've been in meetings at boat factories where the manufacturer's own staff, right there at their own facility, cannot provide drawings for their own floorplans.

They have a spreadsheet of templates, and they sent me a copy. However, it only goes back as far as 2013 and only covers Tige and Malibu. I have asked for clarification - is this ALL the templates they have, or only factory-supplied ones? I'll report what I learn.

In the meantime, if you have a model that was in production in 2013 or before, they probably have a template for it IF THE FLOORPLAN HAS NOT CHANGED. Here is the list for Tige:

          2013 Tige RZ2
          2013 Tige RZ4
          2013 Tige FW H Cooler
          2013 Tige R20 WO Cooler
          2013 Tige Z1-B
          2013 Tige Z3
          2014 Tige ASR
          2014 Tige RZ2
          2014 Tige RZ4
          2014 Tige FW H Cooler
          2014 Tige R20 WO Cooler
          2014 Tige Z1-B
          2014 Tige Z3

In my case, they don't list a 24Ve template for any year so I'm out of luck and will have to make my own template. But if you have an RZ2, for example, and can confirm that the floorplan for your year was the same as 2013, you can use their template. I'm hopeful that the massive combined wisdom and knowledge on this site can help determine what floorplans have remained the same over the years.

          On to other things....

On price, we're looking at about $500 for the basic Deckadence material with all discounts. That gets you the basic floor covering in one solid color.

They do two kinds of logos. The original kind is where they literally cut out the shape and glue in a different color of material. Those start at about $125 and go up based on complexity (it's labor intensive). The other, newer kind is a deep-ink-spray process where they take your artwork, cut out a stencil, and spray permanent ink into the material to create the image. The ink goes all the way to the bottom of the material. Complexity doesn't matter as much here because the details are in the stencil, not in cutting and gluing. This type of logo is $85. That includes the Tige logo in basically any size you want, or any sort of custom logo you can dream up and send to them.

Borders cost $105. They're generally more expensive but they will drop the price a bit for our group order.

A border AND a logo is a popular combination. Paul said folks often do three colors (floor / logo / border) coordinated to the colors of their boat. He specifically mentioned Lime Green as being extremely popular right now, and apparently lots of people incorporate that into floors for boats that have Lime Green in the hull.

The floors will ship 12-15 days after your order for colors they have in stock (out of stock colors will take a bit longer). While their business offices are in Canada, their manufacturing facility is actually in Virginia and shipments come from there. Estimated shipping to the east coast is ~$45, and to the west coast is ~$55. Billing will occur from there too so all prices are in US Dollars. Credit cards are fine.

Special note for 2012+ boats: They have contracts with various boat manufacturers starting in model year 2012. Technically, 2012+ floors must be ordered through a dealer or from the boat factory, and they are careful here because they don't want to violate their contracts. However, there is an escape route. If you are "having trouble" ordering a Deckadence floor post-boat-delivery from your dealer (apparently some dealers won't/don't bother with floors after the boat has been delivered), or not getting good service, or don't have a dealer nearby, or whatever... Deckadence will contact Tige on your behalf and ask for permission to sell direct to you. Their position is that both Deckadence and Tige are interested in providing good service to their shared customer, and if a customer isn't having good luck through their dealer then another way must be found to keep the customer happy. Deckadence has done this in the past and will be happy to do it again, but only after a 2012+ boat owner has at least tried to work through their dealer.

I specifically asked about the Malibu 247. They have templates for the following 247 models: "247 LSV A-04" and "247 LSV-No Table Hole". Hopefully those suffix differences mean something to you.

I think that covers most things: Templates, price, logos, borders, shipment, payment, 2012+ boats, and the 247 question. You now know everything I do about this group buy. If you have additional questions, please direct them to Paul Riches at 778-387-2535 (warning: that's a Canadian area code). The next step is to commit, or not, and then we can move ahead with this group buy. Let's plan to place our orders next Tuesday, 22 April.

          Hope this helps... thanks!

I mentioned early on that I may be interested in this so that I could have a spare, given the decent price. As my boat is a 2013 and my dealer is great to work with, this makes me officially out (not that I was ever for sure in). Just wanted to clarify for your counts.

Does anybody know if the 2011 and 2013 R20 floor plan is the same?

I am in for a 2009 RZ2 with deck gray material and (possibly) a spray logo.

The above message does not address whether there will be an up charge for a template that we create ourselves.

I would recomend to everyone to template their own boats, you would be amazed at how much differentiation there was between 3 RZ2's for the walkover and transom area from the templates from Seadeck. If you want a perfect fit it's the only way. And remmeber the newer RZ2's have a cooler in the bow, the older ones like mine do not, so the template they have for the 2013 would not work for the 2010 and earlier.

There is no difference in price between using their template and making your own. Just a labor savings for you, if you can use their template. My 24Ve isn't on the list so I'll be cutting a template for mine, I just need it to stop raining for a while....

Well, good. I wanted to cut my own template anyways. The videos on the Deckadence site are very handy. On a quick viewing, I saw a few tricks I might not have thought of.

I think the key to templating is accepting that it is an iterative process: You will start off with waaaaaay too much plastic, slowly work it into the corners and curves, making it more and more smooth as you work on it. This will take time, and you WANT to take time so it ends up as nice as possible. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if I end up doing it twice - the techniques and "feel" I learn in the first pass will let me do a better job on the second.
