Surfing on the first day of Spring

We have surfed on and off through the winter, but mostly RJ and I and maybe Thomas doing some testing or something along those lines, but we got a chance to get out as a family on the weekend of 3/21, it was a beautiful day. It is sad we still need a bunch of rain, but we just had 2 storms and even more snow on the ground. I live only 15 mins north of the Lime Saddle marina on Lake Oroville.

Anyway, we made a fun video. Amy was missing, she wasn't feeling well. I hope we get the rain, because this is going to be a great season, and that Z3 wake is just mackin.

RJ is wearing an Oneill super freak, 4/3. The kids are wearing hand me downs, but I just bought them oneill 3/2s. RJ needs the thicker for some of the stuff he does, but 3/2 is great for this. RJ loves his wetsuit.

So I am curious, how many of you guys have a 5 MPH run to your ramp or slip, and after surfing its one of the funnest times with your family? When I watch that video, I think that is one of the best memories. Just grooving to tunes while we head in.

Sweet video! Wow, was Thomas getting that much air at the END of last season?! Sigh..... my usual local (day trips) lake is not much more than a pond (Lake Perris), I doubt you could get through a Ramones song before you hit the dock. I think entire Lake at Perris is the size of that no wake zone you have to go through at Oroville.

How does the water depth compare to Polar Bear last October?

I have a model under. O'neil psycho freak 2 - 4:3. Amazing suit! Feels like a part of me, I also have high end 3:2 but for the life of me I can't remember the brand. Any high end surf wetsuit is great. Nothing designed for the wakeboard world. I also have 1mm heater top that I love love love!

RJ loves his super freak, and will not wear his dry suit anymore.

@stingreye Thomas was struggling to get just a bit of air, but he got that new board from Chaos, and wow, big difference right away. RJ got on the board, and its too small for him, but he was getting big air and having fun. When he got off his words were:

"Dude, that board is balls fast and has a ton of pop." So he approved on Thomas' board. ;-)

Here is a picture of RJ airing it out.

Oh, and water level. The level around 2nd week of October was 745. On 3/21 it was about the same. Not its just over 750. If it gets to 800, that won't be so bad.

Great vid. The "Captian"... "wat" montage was the best part

We don't have a slow zone but we surf in a cove around a point from the ramp. I always make the ride back to the ramp at modest cruise speeds and select music from my 18 hour playlist accordingly. I agree it is one of the best times of the day and usually against a beautiful sunset too.

Ohhhh, this makes me itch, itch, itch for boating season! Thanks for the inspiration!!
