    Surf Platform

Hello all! I have a 2009 22ve with the fiber glass platform. Ive read and read so many threads about modifying a swim platform for surfing but I wish there was an easier way.

Do yall know of anyone/company that could make me a teak or similar platform that would not have the lip on the edge?

I dont think its a real problem with it dragging in the wave, heck it might even help with prop wash etc but I just hate that lip being in there.

What would yall suggest to be the easiest option to get rid of the lip?

    TIA Ryan

Any local woodworker can make you a teak platform, just ask them to use doubled up 4/4 (four quarter) teak.

I was just about to build myself one, when I found one here in the classifieds section that has the "Tige" logo that I am going to mod.

But first, I am going to make one out of plywood with the same dimensions as a test piece to see what the difference will be and to get the actual shape that I want.

Teak is easy to get and the shape is pretty simple (compared to something like a piece of furniture).

If you want any photos, I can send you some of my new teak platform and my mods as I go along...
Sent by the random thoughts from the voices in my head... Eric

Id love to see your progress!!

I guess your correct, any decent wood worker could make one. I wonder if my brackets would work for a teak one.

Or possibly a metal one would work better?

Im in Lubbock TX and have only lived here 2 years so I have no clue as to where/who could do this...

Yea still counts, Which lake do you usually go to??

OP, i will put my thinking cap on and look around for someone in town that would be able to do that. I contract houses so lots of resources there might have one or two ideas i can ask about for you.

My thought about how to modify my platform was to take it to a fiberglass shop and have them fill in and smooth out the bottom..

2009 RZ2 here. The shape of the platform is fine for surfing -- that model year was the first cut down in size (2010 got more).

The big drawback of the 2009 platform is that big underside lip. Check out the cheap surf flap mod that is very easy to install in this original thread and this recent thread.

Anyone have a link to the thread where someone filled in their swim platform to make it smooth underneath? It seems like both Timmy and Wicked did it to theirs.

No sir, I was out there all of last season, like every weekend....sometimes twice.

The year before I only made it out a few times, I guess because of moving.

Ill be out there every weekend this summer tho.

oh wow, i live out there all summer we live at North Ridge out there. What boat are you on ive probably seen you a few times just nice to know who you are seeing!

And Ive found a fiberglass shop in town, i know nothing of them but here is the link http://guaranteedfiberglass.com/

As far as a teak platform I am still trying to search around. I know a company that makes custom woodwork from hickory and what not mostly, but theres no harm in asking!
