    Lets talk Mirrors

    Hey guys,

I know there are a few different threads regarding mirrors but I thought I would start my own and get everyone's latest input.

We have a Z3 and if it was up to me I would run no mirror but my wife insists on getting one for this summer. We have the plastic mirror that come with the boat but it looks terrible in my opinion.

What is everyone running ? What does everyone recommend ?

I recommend the plastic one that came with the boat. It's a mirror.

I spent the money on the samson mirror... looks awesome.. but I usually find myself not using it... but I did not find myself using the one that came with the boat as well.. go figure ???

I am sure if I owned the edge mirror as well I would not use it.... so basically I am not of much help to you. well only if you spend all that money and find that you dont use it too?

If you had a PTM Edge mirror you would use it.
They are AWESOME! You never have to look over your shoulder. You see everything. Plus, they look really good too.

Last year I ran into our local Tige shop CMS to pick up some Vinyl Sauce for our boat's interior and they had the PTM Edge VR140 Pro on display and I happened to mention to the sales guy, what a rip off, then he told me to stand at the distance it would be in a boat and he walked over off to the side, he then said "can you see me?" yeah, was my reply, then "can you see behind you?" he then asked, duh was my answer, I then turned my head to see where he was standing and I could not believe how far to my left he was and how clearly he was in my line of sight for the mirror.

I bought the mirror right then, mounted it that day (it fit right in my Samsom mirror arm) and have loved it since.

I just changed the tower on my boat to a Samsom Blade (a forward arch) tower and now have to decide on the long arm style or the windshield mount style, but I am definitely keeping my PTM mirror.

I purchased the PTM Edge Elite and the Tige stamped windshield bracket. Ours did not have a mirror being used and the owner must have wanted to recoup a few bucks.

I have not mounted it yet but will in the next week or so. It definately has an awesome field of vision and adds some nice BLING.

PTM edge we love ours. All our friends have bought one too. You have to see it to believe it. No other mirror comes close to the view.

Here is the Budget version from CIPA based on a review by Shawndoggy I think (could be wrong going off memory):

                          http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

                          Field of vision is amazing.

The mount and tower arm cost me more than the mirror (older boat so I got the monster tower arm with ball and socket mount which is the same as the PTM mount I think). If you have the older tower style, I really like the Monster quick release mirror arm.

I have not compared the CIPA to the PTM to know the difference.

                            PTM Edge Mirror

I drove a fair amount of boats last year (SN 206, SN 196, Malibu LX, Malibu LXI, Malibu LSV, Prostar 190 & 197) all with different mirrors. I upgraded to a PTM mid way through last season, well worth the extra $$, substantially nicer than the other mirrors. All the other boat owners commented on how nice the PTM mirror is when they got behind my wheel.

And I forgot to add, I am a cheap son of a b!tch and only purchase items after hours, days, and months of research. I am very pleased with my purchase, and so is my wife. We have the 100, and can see the skier rounding buoys at 28' off.
