Would not let us water test without money down and financing on the table. Walked out and never looked back. A good friend owns an X-2 he bought used from there... and I really like his boat. Doesn't surf anywhere near as good as my RZR. Didn't have any other used inventory we were interested in.... Majorly turned off by dealer.
    .
I was told that once by a MC dealer. They would only let me test drive if I signed a purchase agreement. They said that if the test drive was unsatisfactory, then we could tear up the agreement and I could go home without the boat. I told them that was stooopid (with 3 o's) and posted my experience on wakeworld. They changed their tune and I was able to test drive an X35. The economy continued to sink and I just couldn't justify passing up on some of the used boats I was seeing. The owner called the owner of Wakeworld and had my thread nuked. But the bottom line is that this is a common sales tactic for MC. We can speculate as to why, but the bottom line is that it polarizes the boating population for sure.

Not bias at all if the boats past 100k it's priced out of its value and i am not interested and neither should anyone else.. how will I get the dealers to agree? That makes no sense. I am buying a new boat with cash why would they not want to demo them for me? Fuel usage will be calculated by how much I see the guage start and end with over given the same test drives and rides I will do.. If a dealer don't want to demo there boat then that will be included in my feed back.

You want fair market pricing then don't fall into their control. If no one buys there stuff over 100 they will.either stop making it or price it reasonably to sell. Buyers control the market. Stop giving into the crazy prices and guess what they will come down.

The only way to test the fuel "economy" is to start with a full tank, note the hours logged, and fill again and see how much it takes, then divide by the hours on the boat. Any other type of fuel tracking short of hooking up your own fuel flow meter on each boat will not be an accurate comparison between all the different boats your going to look at.

Why does fuel consumption really matter? Whether it burns 6 gallons per hour or 8 is stupid to begin with - if you can afford a $70K does $7 hour really make a difference in your purchase decision?

This measure is almost like buying an electric car - basically you have a $15k car with an $18K battery. If you can afford to double your car payment why are worried about gas costs? Which by the way has no ROI, just like a boat other than your happiness.

              Just my two cents.

I think EWOK is right..you can't. The reason being boat fuel gauges are historically terrible. In boat one you might run it for 2 hours and burn 12 gallons of fuel and because of the tank shape and location of the sending unit it might never read off full. Boat 2 might burn only 10 gallons of fuel but drop to 3/4 because of narrow tank top and high mounted sending unit. They all have different shaped tanks in different locations with different sending units, so this is never going to be at all accurate. Only way to know accurately is like EWOK said: to start full and end full with a fill up or to use a fuel flow meter. Plus your talking demo's here. The dealer is likely going to show up with a boat slap full of fuel. Your going to get about an hour to hour and 1/2 of time and likely the gauge will never come off full

We never fill the tank all the way on our demos , so your not going to get any real world fuel measurement.

Interesting that surf wave/wakeboard wake are not on your list. If your primary interest is surf and your looking at top line new surf boats the list of loaded under 100k may be pretty short. Will be interested to see what you come up with. IMHO top line surf boats I would be interested in besides Tige would be a Centurion FX24 (not interested im a G) but they are definitely above 100k from what I have a seen. Good luck.

What you needed to say is WEALTHY BUYERS control the market. You are obviously are not a wealthy buyer and most of us here are not as well.

The Supreme 226 and the Centurion line up is out of the hunt for you because you cannot get bigger than the ZR 450 and you stated in other posts that you need the 550.

                      Good luck in your search.

I have plenty of cash to buy one. Wealth has nothing to do with senseless purchases.

I'm sure I will be able to get a real good idea of fuel consumption on the demos.

Check out boattest.com for fuel consumption. They have good numbers.

You'll never burn enough gas on a demo ride to know the true fuel consumption numbers. Not that it's a big selling point.

In addition to boattest.com I think Transworld Wakeboarding's 2014 Boat buyers guide is really well done this year. Manufacturers included are : Axis, Gekko, Malibu, Moomba, Nautique, Supra and Tige. They give an overall, wakeboard, and surf review all with video. They are pretty in depth and intuitive with the boats and it could be an easy way to fill in some of your categories Wicked. Of course it's not real world with you on the boats but I have checked out most of it and they definitely seem unbiased and truthful about the boats. Granted it's not all the manufacturers but it's a start.

The only boats in our area over 100k are Mastercraft and the g boat and now asr. These doods reviewing these boats are not on my level. I want to see what the boat starts like and the potential I can get out of it. Don't get all your panties wound up I do believe you will all appreciate what I bring to the table

220 items? Holy s**t, how long do your test drives take? I see you plan on reporting on lights, so I guess there'll be some late nights too?
As far as $$$, are you going into each dealer, on each model, and telling them to give you their absolute best "cash" price?
I'm looking forward to your report, even though you have already said you won't be testing any MC's because of price. I guess the G23 and 230 Nautiques are not in there as well. Or the LSV. I know, because they were all $5-27K higher than my X30.
It sounds like fun though, I'm jealous.
