2014 Z3 purchased, now the follow ups from other brand selling dealers.

I am thrilled with my boat show purchase and I really had no plans to buy something brand new untill the last few weeks, after looking at the prices of 1 to 3 year old boats I though I would shop new or leftover non current, I shopped and overthough everything...and every brand... primarily considered the MB 22 tomcat, Malibu MXZ 22 or LSV23 and of course the Tige Z1 and Z3, and picked the Z3 due to living on the lake and knowing you never have too much room for people and stuff!

Now comes the other boat dealers following up, I hate to take the calls since I know losing a sale on a boat over $70,000 is a big deal.

I would like to share an email I recieved and would love to hear from people who own or have first hand experiance with a Z3 or Z1.

( I copied and pasted this Email ) I am very surprised and concerned with your expectations of the boat after you said you did extensive research on it. I have a very close friend that worked for Skipper Bud's and I asked him his take on a Z3 and this is what he said "very tippy from side to side, not a lot of interior space for a 23, and they porpoise like crazy." I would like to offer this to you, test drive the boat before you sign on the dotted line, if they are confident in their boat they will hold their price and extend you that courtesy. I am willing to take you to Tennessee, where the factory is and test drive the boat with you to show how well a Malibu 23 performs out of the box compared to a Z3. In closing, I am still here to try and earn your business and hope you will take me up on my offer, if not have a great summer and (dealer name removed) is always here if you need service or storage.

I have no plans to change my mind!

    thanks

Actually I think your about the third person in the last few months to buy a Z3/Z1 after having crawled all over a Malibu 23 and a Tige. I don't own a Z3/Z1 (wished I did) but I rode in a Z3 on Lake of the Ozarks on a Saturday in the main channel around about 11 o'clock. Anybody from the area can tell you how rough that can be and it never felt "tippy", or porpoise, was just rock solid through the heavy chop, much better than the 23' runabout we were in for the weekend, it was surprising how well it handled the rough stuff.

Tomp, first welcome to the site and to the Tige family, While I do not own a Z3 I have driven one extensively my personal opinion is all of the statements are false Z3's perform very well. I am gonna call the email sour grapes. I sure you will be very happy with your new boat. I am sure other with a Z3 will weigh in.

Tomp this thread means nothing with out a picture of your boat!

Welcome to the site. If you bought your boat from skipper buds you must be from the Midwest.

        Enjoy the Z3!

very tippy from side to side
hasnt been my experience, but I will say I have not driven a Z3 since the outer chine was reworked

          and they porpoise like crazy
I did not experience this at all on the Z3

not a lot of interior space for a 23
I wont debate this observation, but I will say this. Malibu seems to place the windshield very far forward, giving more room in the main cabin. This is noticeable, so it would be up to each individual to decide if it was an issue. Since you have been in all the boats, how did it seem to you........

test drive the boat before you sign on the dotted line

As a Z3 owner, none of those comments even warrant a comeback. Congrats on the boat and as has already been said "post up some pics"!

One thing I really hated about my Z3 was the top frame of the windshield was directly in my line of sight.

I think it would only porpoise if you don't know how to use the little red button on the throttle.

It is never bad advice to test drive or to tour a factory.

I am sure he feels bad about losing your sale, and I wouldn't take it to mean he is particularly bashing other boat brands. He sounds like a reasonable guy that lost another sale.
                  Be excellent to one another.

I have a z3 with close to a 100hrs and have had a few issues but I love the boat and it is very firm and handles big water very well for a 23ft boat.

You will not be sorry in your decision.

He would not have to put down another boat if what he was selling was truly superior.

We used to get the porpoiseing comment in boat shows from our competitors , thats the first time ive hurd that in years , we have been Tige for 9 years and we also carried Malibu for 4 years , nothing compares to the ride quality or handling on the water to the Tige , congratulations you made a good choice, my personal Tige is 9 years old 1650hrs and still as solid as new.

I don't even know what porpoising means, but it doesn't sound any good at all!! I think I would know what porpoising means if my boat had been doing it.
