RZR Surf Flap Mounting

It will work perfectly on a 21v. It seems to work on all boats, I think lots and lots of people have copied this mod.

My teak swim deck seems to be a bit loose in the mounting brackets. I didn't look real close, just going off what I remember noticing a while back. I think it just slides in place and then is held in place with pins. Is that the normal way for all these swim decks that you guys are mounting these to?

Has anyone ran one of these in conjunction with one of those home made "wake gates"? I'm pretty interested in doing that as well as I like the idea of not having to lean the boat over so much to get a good wave. Can the swim deck take the abuse of both of these at the same time?

IMHO, the Duffy's surf flap puts less stress on the platform when the platform doesn't touch the water than the OEM platform than digs into the water. There is a good 6 inches on the surf side that is in the wave on the surf side with the oem platform.

Not sure about stress from Ghetto gate. The one I have seen in person ran paralell to the hull and seemed to put very little stress on the platform. The ones that are out 20* might put more stress but I have not seen it in person before.

I have the pre 2012 platform that has the 3 holes in the platform brackets. I use the middle holes to mount my flap. After 2 seasons with mine I haven't had any stress issues. My setup does rotate freely though. I haven't seen any issues with rigid setups either. Mine is just for knockdown of spray of prop rotation on the goofy side.

Just started my Flappy Flapper Mud Flap Surf Flap thing-a-bob last night. Oh how I hate how heavy this stuff is, I have been shadowing the post for months now and decided on 3/4" all thread as I didn't want the flex issues some where mentioning. My total flap length from swim platform bracket to bracket was exactly 61 5/8" I ran it down to about 2" below the taps plate or half way down the FAE. I cut a 24 degree angle in the flap purely a cosmetic thing just looks better IMO. I am using X2 1/4" gym flooring pretty heavy stuff looks okay. I ran out of light and patience about 11:00 last night but got everything just and mocked up just need to drill the holes for the U-bolts. I will post some pictures when I finish up, I will be on the water Thursday and take some more to show what it does on the 24Ve'

I have tried lots of rubber over the years, the 3/4 horse stall mat seems to work the best. The more rigid the better, also your mount should be rigid. Basically you want the water to barely be able to push the mat up. I can't push my by hand all the way up.

I agree with duffy, that the rigid install works the best. I have the pre-2012 brackets that have the holes in them and didn't want to do a permanent install where I have to do much altering. I used the heavy mat as others have but just secured it using the holes already there. My mat does freely move and gets my wave clean but I have to agree that I would get added benefit from a rigid design.

Wish I was coming to the reunion so we could compare our setups! I am running the horse stall mat but my mat is narrower. However, I have a cut down teak platform that doesn't touch the wave.

image.jpg sorry for the horrible picture. But I got it on there, it's not real stiff but it's really heavy I can push the bottom of the flap to the swim step with some effort. I used 2 layers just to be sure and the picture looks like it's off center but it's not . Testing tomorrow will report....standby in further

Thanks for the help, we have horse place out here that has it but I got this stuff for free so I'll give it shot in hopes of doing one for $40. Thanks again for all the write-ups

We are having our fourth baby this November and we have a tripped planned to big bear to avoid the heat. Really wish we were able to swing it this year. Definitely hope to make it out next year.

Another benefit of the flap is the weird looks you get at gas stations and ramps. I have had multiple people ask me if its to prevent rock chips and even had someone ask if it was too remind people to stay away from the prop if they were swimming back there.

I did mine a couple months ago. Works great but I'm still lost about the shape. While surfing I can see water coming over the top of the flap. Not from under the deck but more like from the side of it. I'm guessing it too long but I'm open to suggestions.image.jpg
