    Paddlewheel Replacement

    Hi. When test driving my 2007 20v I noticed the speedometer not reading correctly. My past experience with boats lead me to believe that unless they are gps units, most are problematic. I am most familiar with the pickup tube type and noticed that this boat has a paddlewheel incorporated in the triducer. Upon inspection of the paddlewheel, I noticed that one of the four paddles has been broken off. Is it worth the time and effort to replace the paddlewheel to see if this corrects the problem. Is there a plug and play gps enabled speedo that will replace the factory unit. I have the Tige Speedset on the boat as well and don't want to lose any of the functions. If gps upgrade is an option, does anyone know where to get one? I would like some info from some of you that have been down this road before. Thanks in advance for your help.

      You can get a rebuild kit for the Paddlewheel. They are inexpensive and will more than likely correct your problem. You can get them thru Airmar/ Gemeco. If I recall correctly they are less than $20. For the cost for sure worth a try.

        Theres a good chance that the wheels axle pin is bent also, preventing it from rotating. The paddle wheel hit is easy to replace and comes with the axle pin.

          I don't know if you are interested or not in going to GPS but I just ordered one of the Nautic Laugic GPS conversion kits.

          Below is the response to an question I had on my '08 RZ4;

          To upgrade your Tige to GPS, we have our Nautic Laugic NL4 product. This replaces the paddlewheel with GPS. Thus all ‘speed’ systems (speedo and cruise) already using the paddlewheel, will get GPS speed instead. According to our records, your 2008 Tige has a Triducer paddlewheel module. This module has speed, temperature, and depth sensing within. Our simple install plugs inline between the Paddlewheel connectors (located near the Paddlewheel). In this manner the paddlewheel signal is disconnected, injecting the new GPS signal in its place; while the temperature, and depth signals are reconnected and allowed to pass.

          It sounds simple to install, I hope it all works well. I do wish these boats could work with the Perfect Pass Stargazer system though.

              I notice they have this $50 add on to correct for river currents.
