Took this pic from the video, maybe they saved money by leaving out the dash and steering wheel lol! This must be a prototype they rushed to market. The pic came from this video. Here is a link to a higher res pic.

      Supposedly from Mastercraft:

      Hey guys -

It has been fun reading this thread for sure. As always, thanks for your passion about this brand.

The boat you are seeing is a mock up or a "shell". The reason for that is simple - we have more secrets and stories to tell. We did not want to give it all away at the start. Call it ankle showing. I do like the joke about the reason it is $50K is because it has no dash or steering wheel! HAHA!! Anyway, this is why we are asking people to sign up for updates at http://www.mastercraft.com/NXTupdates. Those who register with us will get updates, exclusive content and an opportunity to raise their hand and say they want one before anyone else. And yes, those who sign up will get a great peek at this boat over the next several weeks.

I cannot answer any questions so be sure to sign up to find out the latest. But I can tell you this boat is absolutely beautiful. It is not a knock off of anything. The NXT is entirely unique from hull design to gelcoat scheme to interior to dash to tower to surf system, etc. But it is a MasterCraft and we have certain vendors we use - we did not bring on any new suppliers for this boat.

The official launch is this summer. That is when it will be fully launched, ready to build online and ready to order. Demand for this boat will be high so start thinking about it now...

Thanks again guys for your passion. I will let you get back to discussing the NXT

A whole bunch of Moomba and R20 buyers just decided to wait... Usually MC's rush to get something out is a disaster (A la Xstar), but I think this one is marketing genius. IF they can really do this. But I bet by the time you get a fuel injected engine and a tandem axle trailer, you are going 60K +, without any other options.
        Be excellent to one another.

Dumb. Brings down the entire brand. Name it something else like Lexus does with Toyota.
I would be mad if I owned a real Master Craft.

Glad I own a TIGE. Best boat ever!

See I disagree with that. Does the R20 bring down the whole Tige brand?

No, the R20 is in keeping with Tiges legacy. It's how they started, quality boat, quality wake for much less than MC. I think the only thing about the R20 that hurts Tige brand is that it has a cheaper, different warranty than the rest of the boats.

All boats have the same basic components. All manufacturers are using best price or quality suppliers. All manufacturers are competing for market share. It can't be better and cheaper, but it can be one of the two.

When I bought mine I would have been delighted to not have a sound system, carpet, fancy digital dash, etc. I realize the majority of the money is in the drivetrain and the hull (and sometimes the tower), but the sound system and carpet and fancy dash and so on add thousands and thousands to the build cost of a boat. Take off the fancy stuff, keep the quality high on the basics that are left (good engine, good hull, good tower), and I bet a lot of families would find the room in their budget whereas today they just drive on by. Tell them they can add the fancy stuff later - it's absolutely true, just ask ChpThril.

Once you're a boat owner you don't usually stop owning a boat for a long time. Chances are that after they've owned that entry model for a while and start thinking about spending money on adding the fancy features they've seen in other people's boats, they'll give serious consideration to just "upgrading" to a more fully featured new boat instead. They're already hooked on the lifestyle, and they have familiarity with the brand so they're likely to give their first look at the dealer they already know. POOF - now you're selling a midrange boat to an existing customer. And that entry boat goes on to spin up another family.
You can order any Tige with base power, no stereo, limited color sceme, bassically stripped at reasonable price , yet we have never had that happen .
Thats why we dont order base models.

My Tundra 4X4 was a base model, it came with a stereo, cool paint scheme, and wasn't stripped. Did it entice me to option up? No. Purpose of this message: Base is Good. (Bass is better).

I can understand you, as a dealer, not ordering a basic model for the showroom floor - at least now, with the way these boats are typically advertised. But if the manufacturers started promoting an "affordable" or "entry" model (let Marketing pick the proper magic word) it might generate some traffic for a model like that. Right now, the presumption of towboats/inboards is that they are expensive - period. They have that reputation, and the families that I've talked to that are looking to get into boating often dismiss them as being out of their price range without ever even looking. They just presume they're in the market for something in the $40-50K range from one of the I/O makers.

That perception of towboats/inboards is real, and justified, given how they're currently priced and marketed. I do think there's an opportunity here but it would require the manufacturers to direct some marketing effort to intentionally change that perception. Maybe that's what MasterCraft is trying to do... maybe they've figured out that the number of people able and willing to spend six figures for a boat is a rather small slice of the market. Maybe they're trying to increase their volume not by making ever-more-expensive models that appeal to an ever-shrinking demographic, but by making an affordable inboard. Call it "cheapening" if we like, but from a business perspective there's a lot more potential customers below the $100K price range than above it. And as I noted earlier in this thread, once you're in the "boat lifestyle" you generally stay there for a long time, with upgrades/tradeups along the way and favoritism to the brand you already know.

                        Just my $0.02.

I'll give you'll 3 guesses as to how many tow boat brands have gone out of biz in the past 5 years because their boats were overpriced....................

On the other hand, how many 24ft I/O's ou there in the 50K range that are optioned like a comparable tow boat? Tahoe and Bayliner?

Chaparral boats has done a good (terrible IMO) job of marketing I/O as tow boats, wakeboarding specific boats that are not cheap, 50+ for a few I've seen. There are lots of un-informed consumers out there who don't know the difference between inboard and I/O, and they see that they can get a bigger boat with a tower and higher top speed than a comparably priced inboard. I think it's great all around that MC is getting into the "value" priced market. Hopefully it will generate some buzz that all "value" inboard manufacturers can benefit from. I can see Axis and Tige getting a bump in the buzz for their 50k all day boats, and hopefully prevent someone from getting an I/O when they thought they were getting an inboard.

Lets do a survey, how many out there have seen a base Moomba or Axis, the ones that come in for service are optioned out to where they could have bought a Malibu or Supra, the base boats track record doesnt show to be succesful in the past , look at Malibu v- ride, CC 176 they were available, Tige switch series.
Also you will notice the prices of Axis and Moomba are going up because more are being ordered with up grades.
