    2009 22ve steering cable

What size, model, and where is the best place to buy. Thanks for your help.

If you look on the old cable it should have the part number. Teleflex does have a newer cable that is the extreme that is supposed to last longer. For my 22Ve I needed the 18' to run it in the same place as the factory one. I did have to enlargen the hole because the original cable was placed before the tank. Some have opted to use a 21' cable and run it in front of the bulkhead.

Here is one of the cheaper places from doing a quick search (I have seen where the prices fluctuate from site to site from month to month, meaning the cheapest today may not have been the cheapest two months ago) http://www.boatstoreusa.com/hydrauli...t-tfxtreme-18/. If you do a search on the part number, ssc15418, you can find which one is the cheapest for you. You will have to see if shipping is included or not and the cost. If you want a different length, i.e. 21', then you substitute the last two numbers for the length you want, i.e. ssc15421

      Hey skip,

Do you know when and if Tige started installing the Teleflex extreme cable?

I don't when or if they do. I only know that in mine it was the older version and if you call some of the dealers you have to make sure that you have the correct part number for the extreme or you will get the older one for the same cost.

I believe if you look next to the rack is where the part number should be. Based on that you would be able to tell if you have the extreme or not.

I just replace mine on my '09 22Ve. It was 18' run in front of the bulkhead. I ordered this one from amazon (prime), the 19' just in case. I probably could of got by with the 18'.

I got it out OK. Read all the info on the site. Don't take off the wrong nut/bolt where it hooks to the rudder like I did. I taped a 1/4" rope to the cable when I pulled it out. It took some finesse as it came through the hole but it worked. Used the rope to pull it back (easier than pulling it out).
