How hard to remove windshield frame and tower on an old RZ4?

I have an '08 RZ4 that we just got earlier this year (with VERY low hours) and it came with an Xplosion tower that has goofy looking "X" removable rear braces. I am having a couple of new single tube rear braces made up to replace the X braces and will need to powder coat them. This will allow me to mount my rotating board racks correctly.

I want to rewire my four tower mounted Icon8s and the tower lights that I have, so I was thinking of changing the color of the tower to some shade of dark gray while I was doing all this work anyway. And while I was at it, I would like to do the windshield frame the same color and maybe tint the windshield to update the boat's looks.

    So,
    1. How hard is removing a (non-Alpha) tower?
    2. How hard is removing the windshield frame?

The tower should be a piece of cake. There are bolts under the gunwhale that you removed and then you just need several men to lift the tower, if you want to keep it all in one piece.

I'm not sure how the windshield frame is mounted...but that part seems like a lot of work for only a little benefit, as I'm not sure anyone will notice the frame has been updated.
    Be excellent to one another.

Ok, so now I am bored and starting to go down the old "Zipper" path:
I started by planning on setting my sub into a custom enclosure up under the helm as I have been using the sub that I had made for my Moomba for the season.

Now since I am having new rear braces fabbed and they need to be powder coated, I want to remove the entire tower and have it powder coated since I am there anyway and plan on rewiring the tower speakers and tower lights anyway.
      • So, while I am there, what do I use to replace the old dried rubber cushions (?) that are directly under each of the tower legs?

Tower removal isn't that hard of a job it is time consuming and needs to be planned out. I tore my tower down a few years ago and had it powder coated it is a tedious process. I would highly recommend running metal wire of some sort automotive wire etc that isn't coated with rubber to the current speaker holes. Tie on to the end of the current speaker wires and pull it through when removing tower legs and tie the ends off so they don't get pulled out while at the powder shop. this wire can remain in the tower as it is being powder coated and will make reassembly a breeze. Fishing wires in a tower is painstaking!!!
