    Winter Boating Blues

Having settled in to a long winter here (my first winter with a Tige to pine for), I am trying to pass the time. I'm curious to hear what boat related purchases, improvements or activities you are doing to keep yourself from going crazy this winter. So feel free to post them in this thread.

    -----------

As for me, I decided to create my own registration decals. I couldn't find anything I really liked, so I busted out Inkscape and wrote out my own. Took me a few hours as I am as artistic as a box of oiled rags, but I came up with something I'm proud of. Inkscape is a cool program because it is free and very powerful.

Here are a couple pics of the samples I've come up with. My desire was to try to stick with the Free Ride decal theme on my Z1. I think I came close.

I also photoshopped them on to the boat to see how they would look.

This is what I am going to be doing while the water is hard.

    Snowmobiling...

    and Snowboarding...

    Bring on the snow!

March and April I will start thinking of the boat again.

    Your registration numbers look nice!

I have realized that fun is all about water and gravity:

      * Ski in the Winter, while the snow (frozen water) is accumulating in the mountains. Then...

      * Whitewater Kayak in the Spring, while the snowmelt runs down the rivers. Then...

      * WakeSurf in the Summer and Fall, when the rivers have filled the lakes.

Lather, rinse, repeat, every year, until you die.

That is a killer sled! I never have gotten into it fully. My dad and I had a pair of these though. I got that little 70 in 1983 when I was 4. I kinda want to do it again when my son turns 4. I think the laws may have changed a bit though

This time of the year I like to ride my dirt bike. Here is a picture of my first race of the season a few weekends ago.

                I am also in Calgary.

Just picked up the new polaris PRO 800 163" hoping to hit the trails here soon !!

Like most other Canadians I also hibernate, drink and play the pinball collection in the basement !

I'm always down for a beer to discuss boating and talk about times of when the lake wasn't frozen !

I will be organizing, deleting and editing the hundreds or thousands of pictures and videos from the summer; having a "magic" button added and a detail done on the boat for spring; finding a helmet, comp vest, and hopefully a GoPro for next season and catching up on my home "to do" list that was neglected all summer long.
I have been contemplating taking up Snowboarding and will at least give it a shot this winter. Fortunately I seem to be hitting my fourth or fifth mid life crisis as my son hits 6 years old so we have common interests.
My son is spending his off season in several activities including gymnastics as I suggested he learn how to do flips on a trampoline before trying them on his board.
I don't think I like winter anymore. How long can it possibly be in Wisconsin? Kidding.

Maybe we can hit up the Dockside Pub for wing night!

@RZR - which is the GoPro of choice? I put one on my Christmas list, but I don't know much about them.

                      Mo -
I have the GoPro 3 Black edition. It rocks. Comes with a remote and the ability to watch from your iPhone. However the battery sucks when wifi is on! I bought two batteries right away. The mounting capabilities are endless. I had the kids wearing the camera on their heads while tubing. I have the suction cup mount that I put on the boat while surfing. I have 3 or 4 helmet mounts for the kids skiing, me snowboarding and snowmobiling and a few surf board mounts. We went to a water park this summer and the kids wore the camera going down the slides! The possibilities are endless. the biggest problem now is going through the hours of video we shot.

I know there is a newer GoPro now. The 3+. It is smaller.

Get the Black addition it is $400 and you will not be sorry you did.

we need a wisconsin bar day

seems for so little posts, lots in the land of cheese...

I plan on hibernating for the winter. no sled, no 4wheeler and gave up skiing a long time ago, not that it would do much good around here. being from idaho, I don't see much in the way of real mountains around here.
