I have no idea what engine the gas powered 2012 ford f-250's had in them, but I witnessed an engine fail in my friends. I was standing outside his window talking to him and the engine started clanking really hard and died. It only had around 15,000 miles on it if memory serves correctly. They had to put a brand new engine in it. Engine locked up due to some kind of rod or arm breaking inside.

If your friend had a gas motor in his F250 it could have been 2 motors. Either the 6.8L V10 or the 6.2L. I don't remember if they discontinued the V10 yet.

Do what? GM has like 100% of the inboard marine gas engine market share. They've had it since Ford's exit in the early 90's......WTF are they looking for?

I know its crazy I was shocked too....but when you make over 5 million engines a year keeping around an old facility that makes old technology engines for 40k units a year may not be a good business case for them. Im sure GM would be fine with supplying Gen 5 5.3ls, 3.6Ls, LS3, LSA engines for a long time as these are bigger volume and newer technology (higher margins). But Im sure there is a much higher premium on these engines then the older tech engines.

You will see GM make a push to get rid of the 5.0, and 5.7L in the next 2 years for marine applications. They will supply the 6.0l for quite sometime. But I could see the 409hp based 6.0l disapear sooner then the ZR450.

Wow, all of this because of an engine brand swap?

I have driven Chevy trucks for about 30 years and I was always anti Ford. I have no idea why I was anti Ford, other than the fact that I drove a Chevy. Now, after the bailout, I’m a diehard Ford fan. I now own four Fords, and one of them is an Explorer with a 6cyl EB (great motor!).

To make a blanket statement that future Tiges will not be worth as much because they have a Ford motor (or anything other than a GM motor) in them is absurd.

This is the favorite of my Fords.

Funny that you say that. Like the VX, a lot of people say that the wing is a useless ugly gimmick. But when set up correctly, the wing is very useful and really helps performance, just like the Convex Vx does.

A game changer would be an announcement of a GE,Pratt & Whitney or Rolls Royce engine choice. I do have to say my 97 F150 went strong for 235k and I am a huge supporter of Alan Mulally since working for him on the 777.

True, but availability of jet fuel on or around lakes is quite low!

You could burn diesel in a jet engine.

I will own chevy dodge toyota nissan BUT NEVER A FORD.. $hits garbage! Another upset by Tige if this is the route they are going.. Id rather see a 5.7 hemi or 6.4 hemi option as they Are as reliable as GMs 5.7 and 6.0.. Crazy crazy crazy...

There is a bright side tho guys.. Ford coming into new boats will Drive the Value up on our old boats with Real reliably engines in them! GMs part interchange is goes back and back and back.. Fords part interchange is about a year lol..
huh that must be why ford has the most powerful factory engine on the road sounds like you like to hate just to hate. The modular engines are legit and beat the **** out of any of the competition out there.

Good to know there's a backup in case jet fuel becomes scarce or expensive .

Still... you've got to live on a pretty big lake before they have diesel at the filling stations. I'm not sure Lake Cd'A has it, at least at the Resort's filling station. I don't remember seeing it at Hayden's station either. I might have just missed it, though.

That's why to be "revolutionary" they need to get Elon Musk to design up an Electric/Diesel hybrid for our boats...after he is done designing an affordable Tesla and has that space thing all figured out.
