Wicked I just spoke to a Ford Mechanic who you know as well (Randy A) and he noted in the last couple years working for large Ford dealerships in Colorado he hasn't seen any failures of the 6.2. I'd like to know what dealer the guy that has the facts works at. I personally don't know a lot about the Ford 6.2 but I'd imagine a long time company such as Indmar knows what they are doing.

Jeeps where for sale but pulled the order form due to the scan tool system crashing. They won't release a vehicle till repair software is available. And as for the 1500s we had three come through as fleet demos they where given to a drilling companywww.1320diesel.com Home of the Fastest Diesels!

It's to bad this thread got derailed so badly. Should keep this bashing to the truck forums. The good thing about the free market is you can choose to continue to own a boat that has a ford motor in it or a gm motor in it. No one is forcing anyone to buy a boat or a motor that's 100% your decision. Indmar sure won't be going out of business just because they switch to ford and Tige isn't going to go out of business cause they switch to Indmar. There are still many consumers that are level headed and look at the facts that will chose to own these boats with a ford motor in it. If your not happy with this decision go buy a natique or a mastercraft.

Wicked you started the bashing no one else, if you had just come in and said I think its a bad move by Indmar I prefer the current power , there would have been no problem, nobody wants you to leave the thread , just dont make statements of no value, as to your drag racing comments the current copo camaro with a 6.2l turns in a 9.5 quarter mile run, the challenger with hemi 6.1l the same, the ford 5.0l cobrajet is turnning in the 8.2 second range, its been so dominate that NHRA is requireing ford to add 800lbs to the cars to slow them down.
Now I guess you think im a ford guy , and yes i own my share of fords, and corvettes and dodges, also I worked for my brother in R&D at Turbo Action racing automatic transmissions, I was part of the developement of the chrysler torqueflight racing units, if you have any of your Mopar performance parts cataloges you will see we were a major player with them, so ive seen powerful engines in everybodys brand, and durability in everybodys brand, nobody holds the title as best engine out there .
Now back to subject 6.2l chevy has 3.62 stroke with 4.06 bore, 6.2l ford has 3.7 stroke with 4.00 bore the ford has the potential ive makeing more torque because of increased leverage at crank, it will also benefit from overhead cams, you have also a lot of high tech swirl combustion , ford invested a lot in developement because they werent money strapped like GM and Chrysler, the same was true when the GT40 PCM came out , the Excalber 350 was tuned port injected , the GT40 was sequecial tuned port injected more precise system and it showed in performance GM eventially followed SEFI.
When fords modular motors came out they dropped the marine industry, now they are looking at it again , thats all plane and simple.

I've got a 4WD GMC Denali crew cab with the 6.2L motor, I will smoke a Raptor any day of the week. From a dead standstill or rolling at 65.
The torque curve for the 6.2L Ford looks like a 2 year old trying to draw a mountain.
When Ford went to the dual overhead cams they created a zero tolerance engine. In that one slip up in the timing or one overstretch of the belt that turns the cam gears results in a bent valve. When a motor is marinized, typically the tolerances are opened up a bit making it more forgiving, be it main/rod bearings, cylinder walls, etc. So what Indmar is doing is going the opposite direction of what has been learned over the years.
I just don't trust the 6.2L Ford in a marine application. Remember it is like driving up a steep grade hill at 80 mph - this is an extreme service application for a motor. Rather than singing the praises of the Raptor, we should be asking if there is any evidence of failures on a 6.2L Ford used in an F250 that pulled trailers nonstop. Of course, we won't find much of this evidence because you would be crazy to do this when you could have purchased the diesel upgrade.
So, in terms of risk, I see this as a bad move on Indmar's part. You have an unproven motor, a zero tolerance engine, and an engine manufacture who changes parts on a yearly basis - can you imagine the inventory that boat shops are going to have to carry in order to repair these things?
