They are not going to the 6.0 cause they are too cheap.. GM don't want to do the 5.7 anymore.. They want PCM to use the smaller 5.3 or 6.0 and the boat companies are crying.. They should just use the 409...

I know its all about torque thats my issue here my ZR409 in my boat its 409hp and 492 foot-pounds of torque. THE Raptor engine is 411 @ 5,500 hp and 434 @ 4,500 foot-pound of torque.. SO we get 2 hp and lose 58ftlbs of torque? So again GMS smaller 6.0 makes more power and has been proven for YEARS to be able to handle huge turbos and makes tons of power with out failure.. So we are switching to A unproven Ford engine why? to Loose more power? or put more Coin in everyone's pocket expect the consumer?

Just like Obama change is not always good lol!

wicked you say talk to a Ford mechanic they will tell you the engines are junk. Well I am a Ford technician and I can tell you your wrong. I also drive one and love it. I can tell you engine failure is a VERY RARE. The engines are not POS as you state. They are a very reliable engine. I work in a mid size Ford dealership (16 mechanics) and in the year I have worked at this dealer seen 1 5.4L fail (blown head gasket) that was still in the warranty period. I have seen 2 5.0L in mustangs fail ( both #7 rod bearing failure) and one 6.4L diesel. My dealership is on the outskirts of town and we sell and service a lot of trucks these people use as trucks not grocery getters. The 6.2 is. Great engine for Ford, how is it going to work/ last in a boat.....don't know but to call it a POS with no real evidence to support that statement is just plain dumb!Game changing probably not. But I bet they work out just fine. It's not like the Chevys that are in the boats now have never had a failure.

The dealer a friend works at has 64 repair bays, 45 technicians and they work on a lot of Raptors.. This is what he is telling me.. We will just wait and see.. Thankfully the boat I am going to buy will be my last and I dont have to worry about Ford powering it so I could care less.. I think its FOOLISH =)

Here is what he texted me on the 6.4 diesel haha so lets go to the big issues: cavitation in the front cover, Coolant leaks and T-stat issues cause lack of coolant flow and overheating issues that cause cavitation or small holes in front engine cover ... that allows coolant to flow into oiling system, which causes the oil level to overfill, when it overfills it reaches a certain level and then the engine starts to pull the Oil/Coolant mixture from the crankcase into the Charge Air Cooler ... then it pulls it into the intake and now the Diesel Engine has an un-metered fuel source and bc of the intake design it wipes out cylinders #2 & #8 first

also the other major issue that is very similar is an Internal High Pressure Fuel Leak that does the exact same thing and overflow the oil level, due to injector stuck wide open or a leaking high pressure fuel pump and the rear seal ... both major issues result in you buying a new engine (Only if it's out of the Ford 5 yr 100k warranty)

Wow what a debate! Let's look at some facts that are easy to Google. # 1 selling vehicle for the last 36 years and currently #1 this year by almost double the #2 vehicles sales as of September 2013.What is it? Ford F150. So much for 80% of the people not wanting a Ford. Quite the opposite,if you look at the last Two years most popular vehicles.
          2012 sales list. #1 Ford F150,#2 Toyota Camry,#3 Honda Accord,#4 Honda Civic,#5 Chevy 1500 pickup,#6Nissan Altima,#7 Toyota Corolla,#8 Honda CRV,#9 Ford Escape,#10 Ford Focus
There are 3 Ford vehicles in the Top 10 and only 1 Chevy in # 5 Ford is easily the most popular vehicle in sales in 2012.
Now let's take a look at 2013 sales through September 2013
#1 Ford F150 With 559,506 #2 Chevy Silverado @ 360,775 #3 Toyota Camry #4 Honda Accord #5 Ram Pickup @ 262,787 [about half of Ford F150].#6 Honda Civic #7 Nissan Altima #8 Toyota Corolla #9 Honda CRV #10 Ford Escape
So far in 2013 Ford smokes the competition again.
I just can't see your point about no one wanting a Ford. I go to all the Dealerships and they ALL have service departments. All the Technicans complain about warranty work because they don't get paid as much time to do that work as opposed to customer pay work. I go to plenty of independent shops also and see a pretty even mix of cars every week. All cars fail especially if you don't maintain them properly.Pride is usually what makes people think their opinion is fact.I personally have only owned 1 Chevrolet in my life.It served me well given the abuse i put it through. All my Fords served me well too. My Wife had a 1979 Ford Mustang that was a POS. She then bought Honda's and Acura's and they served her well. She bought a Corvette that had a few issues while under warranty, but overall it served her well. She now has a Honda Accord, which i love. When i sold my Nautique with the 5.8 351 Pro Boss i was disappointed Tige only offered Chevy.I got over it and my 2007 22VE now has over 600 hours of trouble free use.My current PCM Chevy has also served me well.So trust in Tige, they have your back.As for the Ford 6.2 i have heard of no issues from my Ford techs. So i would be interested to see some FACTS.
I do all my own stunt work. hey ya'll watch dis.

Glad you guys love your fords. Who cares about sales.. Ford was one of them that was offering leases that helps sales. Dodge just brought that back.. we shall see what sells the most in 2014... you can preach all the crap you want.. Ford engines don't produce... why so many race cars running Chevy and so many fords with Chevy motor swaps?

I find it humorous that Dodge leg humpers bash Ford. Chrysler products are a distant second to any Ford. I could less about any of the brands, but really?

I would think Ford Chevy and Dodge all care about sales. You stated no one wanted a Ford.I provided Facts to the contrary.Have you given up on 2013 already? I can't predict the Future. I doubt Dodge will gain much though.

Fwiw. I love diesels. I have owned 7 of them yet I can't justify owning one now with the little bit of towing I do.
Wicked where did you get your torque numbers for the pcm409? I have asked pcm and the dealer and neither would provide me a sae dyno approved HP and torque

I can say this, I have been at the Tige factory several times in the last year and I remember when the Indmar thing was happening and it was a secret at that time. I saw folks that worked for Indmar and spoke to a couple of them. Later I just made a minor comment about something I sensed while doing a test on a boat, and then 2 indmar guys are out there doing diagnostics to make sure all is good. I REALLY got the impression that Indmar was working hard for this. I have never had a problem with my PCMs and my 409 has been great, but I felt comforted seeing how dedicated those Indmar guys were.

I also understand the issue moving to Ford was a supply issue more than anything, give Indmar the credit for being on top of it and working out a plan.

I was a died in the wool chevy guy, a string of owning chevy trucks and cars. Most of my uncles all worked for the Van Nuys GM plant back in the day and several are retired from GM. If you showed up at a family gathering with a non GM gathering, it literally started a physical fight. Pretty soon fists were flying then it gets real bad when mexicans start throwing live chickens at each other. ;-)

That said, my F-150 with ecoboost is the best truck I have ever owned hands down. Unbelievable how that thing tows everything it does. I am now almost to 60k miles with only regular service and a couple of Sync issues along the way. I lust after those Raptors now, what a turn around. I love they weren't bailed out but that had nothing to do with it. I switched purely for the quality of the truck, ride, interior, engine performance and towing, it was not even close at the time.

Anyway, we always fear change, but this one seems like an easy one to get behind especially if you are a motor head. The Indmars look and sound sick in the boat. The red anodized 350 is cool, and the sound of the dual exhaust on the water is pretty awesome, you should have heard that ASR with the 550 in it. I probably can't afford the gas of a 550 but it sure looked mean and sounded sick.

You say you love ur f 150 best truck you have ever owned. Have you owned a ram 1500 with 5.7 or 6.4? Have you owned a Toyota or Nissan or gm? Of like years? Have you owned a diesel truck? Towed with one? What fuel mileage does you eco boost get towing?

I have owned 2 hemi 5.7l trucks and now a new grand Cherokee with a 5.7l hemi in it. Besides my 2012 grand Cherokee the others have been major gas hogs and no low end torque. Plus they all use a bit of oil and changing 16 plugs every 30k miles. I towed with all three. My 2012 grand Cherokee will stomp a 2013 silverado 5.3l towing and not towing. My cousins ecoboost will out tow by far my grand Cherokee and get similar fuel mileage.

Dodge trucks blow. The hemi engine is ok and the Cummins is just OK too, but the truck itself is crap. FWIW, the ecodiesel is a total dog - the Prius of the 1/2 ton market; over 9 seconds to 60 mph and unable to maintain 60 mph up a 6% grade towing a moderate load. BUT it will get 30+ MPG. What a tosser. Nissan going with the 5.0 Cummins will be the winner - as long as Nissan doesn't forget the rest of the truck. Basically Wicked you are blind and incapable of a reasonable discussion.

My EB amazes me. Ragboy, look up Southern Speed Inc. His tunes are probably the best on the market. I am making over 400/520 at the wheels and I am tune only. It is also a very tame daily driver and mpg increased by 2 average Hwy/City.

Glad to see the Indmar connection. The oval's 6.2 is proving to be a very reliable power plant.
