I don't get how Indmar and Tige announced that "TIGE AND INDMAR CREATE ALLIANCE TO SET THE FUTURE FOR WATERSPORTS" and they unveil the motor in a Supra?? Tige's instagram had to crop out the Supra.

As to performance Fords eco boost is almost equivalent of a diesel in torque with better fuel economy and less cost at the pump, nobody is stopping the other manufactures of producing an equivalant motor so where are they , as to dependabilty , If your in the marine industry count how many 351 engines are still out there versus the 350 chevys and there keeping there boat values very high try and buy a used Nautique or MC 3 event boat they still have there 351 motors running strong, as to substatuting 6.2l for an other 6.2l the ford has larger stroke for more torque and overhead cams for more power, and by the way the overhead cam engines have been in the fords since 1991 with no chain and gear failures.
If people want to complain about an engine the new LS series 5.3s now can burn up to 1 quart per 1000 miles and GM claims that as acceptable and not a warranty item. Also GM has tons and tons of failures in the 3.6L V6. With that being said Im not sure if I would choose the GM 6.2l or the Ford 6.2L. I believe the GM 6.2l (atleast in automotive) has a better torque curve.

I drive a vehicle from all 3 companies at the moment - Powerstoke (personal), Cummins (work), and tahoe (wife's - 2003) and the only one thats worth a flip in my opinion is the powerstroke.

As usual, any thread with the words Ford, GM, or Dodge turns into a "mines bigger than yours" thread. I've never been a Ford guy but I have nothing against them I realize they make a good product. What irritates me is all the BS hype. Love or hate Ford you have to agree that swapping a GM motor for a Ford does not change the watersports industry forever blah blah blah. If you want to swap motors, swap motors but spare me the hype.

I think there is some confusion here too. It's only 1 engine folks, if you watch the announcement they only talked about the 6.2L engine and the one they had on display wasn't even marinized yet. Who knows when it will be available and then you still have the full lineup of Chevy engines. Stop the panic, you can still get a 6.2L supercharged GM engine or the LS3.

Ok, I finally found it on their FB page but they don't say when they will be doing that.
GM has been a great partner but to satisfy the demands of today's towboat we will transition to an all Ford line of engines. Again, GM has been a great partner and we will continue to work together to service the engines we have out in the market for many many years to come. We are by no means cutting our ties with GM but moving forward our new line of engines when launched will be Ford only.

I'm not worried about it. If I get a new boat with a Ford in it, at least WWS in Denver has 2 Ford guys as their mechanics and they are both drag racers so they know their stuff. It's an engine, I'm sure it will be fine. People on this forum are getting worked up about stuff that they don't even know about and can't possibly know since it's not even available yet. Calm down everyone!

I kinda just laugh at this thread. so much emotion. Its not like Indmar just teamed up with Hyundai? I find myself more interested to see it, test it, then decide what it is or is not. But life is about change. Last I checked innovation is based on change? I believe its a sign of old age when change upsets you?
but props to timmy and dom for some voice of reason on this thread.2011 Tigé RZ4

I worked for my dad as a mechanic after school and through college. I can honestly say that Ford failures put me through college. Once these Ford engines are placed under a heavy load for long periods of time (i.e. in a marine application) the issues will come out. Marine engines do not have the same tolerances as car engines - GM marine engines have evolved to account for this, the new lineup of Ford engines has not been used in this application so I would defintely be expecting a steep learning curve. Which means that Indmar is likley to lose their @ss the first few years they swap over to Ford motors as they address multiple warranty claims.
So the Ford lovers can jump on this bandwagon and make excuses later on as to why their ecoboost boat got crappy fuel economy and thrashed at 100 hours. In the meantime, I will continue to buy boats with the field proven, time tested durability of the 350 gm.
