Anyone read the ASR surf thread on WW?

Yeah, I have been commenting in there. Would like to help the guy get it figured out. I'm still wondering if it's a ballast timer issue and the tank isn't getting filled all of the way. He didn't respond to my question about if it is peeing out the side or not.

Hopefully its just that. I just don't see how it can be that far off if it just a ballast issue.

From the looks of the picture, he could use some more speed too. You can usually get a clean face with any weight. The only way to know if it was too much speed to get it to clean up would be if you were riding it.

They are working on a back rest option like the Z3.

Prop rotation is going to be a part of it but it's not all of it. The down and dirty truth about the ASR is the boat was meant to be wakeboard specific. I think that's a hard pill for Tige owners to swallow because we want to believe that Tige realized that surfing is just as big as wakeboarding and it isn't going anywhere. You have to look at the WW thread and comments on here and see..... I have seen no evidence that the ASR compares to the flagship Z3 or performs any where near the G boats (surf wise). Is it the hull design that was just catered to wakeboarding or does it just need the VX? No one knows........There is no viable reason that a person cannot fill up the front and the surf corner and get a clean surfable wake. We all know..... more weight is better but on all of Tige's line the surf system and pro systems will get you a clean nicely shaped wake. Do they get better with additional weight, absolutely, and that's why we put extra weight in them.

It has been represented that the ASR was built to get into a specific market.... to compete. Why would there not be tons of advertisement about how the boat surfs. You can find owner and manufacturer propaganda on the surfing of the G boats everywhere. The ASR is supposed to be a direct competitor of the G boats.... why not the same propaganda from Tige on the ASR as we've seen all over the internet like the G. Why have there not been any positive reviews from ASR owners regarding surfing. I know there have been ASR's sold and people are using them.

Yes, wakeboarding mag and others have just recently came out with test videos of the ASR and they said it was a good surf wake but look at it for what it is. When they tested the 22mxz from Malibu and it had the "spray gate issue" where water was piling over the gate trashing the wake face they said that was great too. It's been well documented over on the Malibu crew that the surf wake on that boat when it had spray gate was not great. A boat manufacturer is not going to give wakeboardmag a boat to test if they blatantly give it a bad review..

Prop rotation is going to play a factor but should not be that pronounced in the size of the hull in the ASR. In my 20 foot RZR, yep, prop rotation is an issue with the starboard wake, that's why I have a flap. The only thing that fixes it is the VX. Maybe that's what the ASR needs.

I guess my overall question why haven't we seen Tige get out in front of this and prove it does surf well................ on both sides. Why haven't we seen a VX for the boat.....................

I was super excited when the boat came out and was stoked when I saw it in person, it's awesome. The bad press it's been getting is disappointing to me, other owners and the brand itself.

This whole situation is so similar to what I went through. Really wish they would spent more time on the R and less on the D in R&D.

From what I was told Tim they no longer use a timer. They use pressure sensors. And they are right. Messed with that boat for some time and the Starboard side is just complete $hit. The port side was ridiable but the Starboard is JUNK.. Id like to get my hands on one to mess with over the summer to see what I can make work with devices but Im not paying 120K to test on boat.. Just dont have a money tree!

I believe those are still timers. There is only one boat that I know of using any special type of sensors to accurately measure how much ballast is in the boat.

I am just amazed that not a single owner out there has posted on here. They’re owners out there, I see them all the time on Instagram, Facebook, WakeWorld, etc. I am not sure how they don’t know about this site, its on Tige.com and the site is even mentioned on the welcome letter from Charlie Pigeon.
