    Binding Slime

Does anyone have a Home recipe for Binding Slime???
Put your hand on a hot stove for a minute, and it seems like an hour. Sit with a pretty girl for an hour, and it seems like a minute. THAT'S relativity. Albert Einstein

Go to Safeway and buy their brand of generic dish soap. I don't know what makes it different, but it seems slicker than others.

I remember reading somewhere either Barbasol Shaving cream or Dawn Dishwashing soap.

Ya, forget that crap that is $9.00 that will only last three weeks. A big jug of dish soap for $3.00 will last all summer and then some. Just make sure you get the biodegradable (sp) soap. I have been using this for years and never had any problems...

dishsoap works fine, but will cause greater deterioration in your bindings. However, I figure by the time the bindings wear from this, I will get a new pair.

I don't think I go out enough to see any deterioration in the bindings from the soap. Maybe if I used soap on the bindings 4 times per day all summer long I could see a problem.

I like Palmolive, it leaves my feet silky smooth and soft.

When we were short a person last year I took out a guy who had no money but he gave me a Gallon of Slime. He had like 2 cases of it in his cars trunk.

That should get us through the summer.

Talk about prices /gallon. I should sell it and get 13 gallons of gas!

Yeah, you wouldn't want to get dishpan feet

True story, one of my buddy's dad once cleaned dishes by dragging them in a net behind a boat...now we know how to use soap when doing that

We started using the Target brand baby shampoo so if some of the soap drifts back and gets in the kids eyes, there's no more tears!!! Works like a charm and no eye irritation!!!

How snug is snug. Most of the aggressive boarders I've talked to don't even use the stuff. Their rationale is if you can't get in with water, your too snug. Concerns with fractured ankles.
                          Food for thought......

                            Firefry,

I would disagree. Most of the great boarders I see think if they can feel their toes at the end of the run, the bindings are too loose. There are really 2 schools of thought:

                            1. Loose bindings prevent fractures by allowing the feet to slide out.

                            2. The worst fractures occur when one foot slides out and the board is whipped around when you fall. Even when the board is loose, the torque is such that it breaks your ankle (or femur) because the force on the foot that stays in is so great.

I personally subscribe to theory number 1, but I've never been in the middle of a crow mobe 540 and had 1 foot slip out. (It usually happens right after I land it)
                            Be excellent to one another.

The biodegradable soap shouldn't hurt your bindings. I have used it for years, and no issues. However, once you get the board on, and are in the water, I shake it around a bit, and get the soap out. Also, don't put soap in the binding, and then not use it. Rinse it out, if the rider chickens out. ... Like I said my Highback bindings lasted till it was time to change them versus soap deteriation.
