    Polar Bear 2013

I attended the Polar Bear event for the first time this past weekend and I had to post how great of an experience it was!! I live in Atlanta and had always wanted to come but I always thought I was only an average rider and they would snicker at that... and I would not know anyone so I would have to break through the "click", it is crazy to fly out there when I have my own boat and boards and all of those pre-event thoughts a lot of us have. I have to say this event blew all of those thoughts out of the water... it is an incredible event and so much fun. I am actually super sore today but so happy for it. I rode over 30 boards, behind 6 different extremely dialed in awesome boats, stayed in the middle of the lake on a great houseboat in a comfy bed and met so many great people who all share the same passion around wakesurfing! We talked boards, waves, ballast, lead, speed, fins, nubsters, boats, shapers, resin, glass, wood and much much more. Whatever topic of wakesurfing you brought up everyone had something to say and I learned so much new/helpful information. Anyway, I had to post this so those of you that have never been that you should plan on attending... you will not regret it. I also have to give a big shout out to the Garcia family, the Harrington's, the board companies, the drivers.... they all make this event special and they work their tails off to be sure everyone feels welcome and has a terrific wakesurfing experience. Thanks to all who made this happen.

The Garcia's and Harrington's ARE great people - we were invited to go this year but didn't get to make it. It sounds like an awesome time. Hopefully next year for us!

Thanks for sharing - do you have any pics?

The event and the people there are AWESOME! This was my second time going. Last year, I had the same apprehensions you had st68. Thankfully, Robert encouraged me to come last year and the surfing addiction began.

Having owners of the boats there that have spent the time dialing the boats in was amazing and made a huge difference.

ALL 6 boats, I would be stoked to ride on any day. Great event, great hosts, great participants.

Wish I could have stayed on the houseboats this year. Sounds like you guys had a great time!

Sorry.....no pics, I didn't even bring a camera. I really hope my wife can make it out next year. I know she would have a blast too.

plus a million. Great meeting you guys. Great waves, great boards. I had my preferences, sure, but even my least favorite board behind the least favorite boat was a lot of fun. Just sharing the stoke and seeing others' styles was very cool.

Oh and my drive home to Reno was even great too. Took 70 up the feather river canyon through quincy and portola. great twisty driver's road with next to no traffic and nobody else in the car to complain that I was driving too fast.
