Installing an electric trolling motor on a Tige

a rudder on a 12 foot sailboat is probably 3/4 times the size of your inboard rudder on your 20-24 foot boat

my question is why does a Tige' need to go slower than about 9.6 (11.6 with ballast full) anyways? I know people do different things but that trolling motor would be a waste for me and my family. I actually had on on the outdrive of a I/O boat and never used it.

Sadly I won't get to try it until spring. The boat is out of the water for the winter. If anyone else wants to try, go for it!

Some people would never use something like this and it's not for them. I know that I idle all over the lake.

Sailboats also have a HUGE rudder in comparison. My 17 foot sailboat rudder has probably 10+ times the surface area of the rudder on a Tige. To steer at slower speed you need more rudder surface area. At sail speeds(trolling motor speeds) a rudder the size on our boats would be all but worthless.
