    2009 z1 ex343 died no codes

So I took my boat out for a 6 hour session of surfing and wakeboarding wednesday and the boat ran perfect. Pulled my kids around on the tube for another hr and no probs. Then at the end of the day with a little over a 1/4 tank of fuel left at 20 mph, the motor harshly chugged to a halt and i turned it off. I tried to restart a few times and it would turn over but wouldnt fire up. After about the fourth attempt at restart the starter just spun and wouldnt engage. I am trying to reach my boat mechanic but keep getting VM. Any help would be much appreciated. Chpthrll I live an hour N of Charlotte, how is the dealer in SC? It is a 2 hr ride to Spartanburg for me. Oh yeah there are no codes on the dash and no audible alarms.

You could go back where the fuel pumps are have somebody turn the key to the on position and feel each pump to see if there running.

i would say a fuel pump breaker or fuse blown. there are several fuses on the engine and a breaker compartment under the helm.

you didn't happen to do something small like disengage the lanyard cable? or something simple like that?

nah man I wish i did but that was the first thing I checked landyard was attached and I pulled it off and put it back on just to be double sure....I will check the pumps and fuses asap but I still wonder why after just a few starting attempts the starter just spins? thanks again fellas

The starter is a seperate issue, but sounds like you need a starter on top of the fuel delivery issue.

Another thing to check as stupid as it sounds is if you are out of gas. Boat fuel gauges are notoriously inaccurate. Just cause it says a 1/4 doesn't mean you have a 1/4. Heck mine says 0% when I have 10 gallons left. I wouldn't do anything else before I filled it up and tried starting.

yeah I thought of that but when I parked it back in my driveway on a slight incline the gauge reads almost 1/2 but I am going tomorrow to put some more fuel in anyway...should I use the old block and hammer trick on the starter to get the bendix to engage bc right now I cant even attempt to start it cuz I all I get is ziiiiinnnngggg from the starter.

If your boat is no longer within Tige warranty and you want PCM service, contact Racecity Marine in Mooresville.
