    Vibrating Issue

I was headed back to the dock after a full day at the lake. The water was very choppy and I was cruising about 25mph when the engine slowed down real quick (almost like the throttle slipped). Any time I picked the speed up past 10mph I felt a vibration under the boat. It's worse towards the back. It's not extreme but it definitely doesn't sound right. There was no water entering the boat and I was told by the guy at Tige to check the prop for dings but I didn't notice anything at all. Could it be the transmission? If I wanted to run it at home and listen for the noise where do I hook up the hoses? Sorry but I have no manual

    Thanks for your help.

With a toilet plunger type device with a hose connection, you can run the engine out of the water. But you do not want to put it in drive to check for vibrations. The bearing in the shaft strut requires water for lubrication and will squeel real loud. If run for very long at all you could damage it. Check the prop very carefully and turn it by hand and check the prop/shaft/strut for any wobble or excessive play. If nothing is obvious, take it to the dealer.

        Sounds like a new boat

I would go to the dealer and have them look at it earlier than your appointment. Or even better see if someone from there can go out on the lake with you. Good Luck
        Let it be!!!

Sounds like the prop. A buddy of mine has a Malibu with the same symptoms after he hit a small log on Lake Cumberland. He looked closely and found a rough edge on the prop. He had it milled out and now it's like new.

            You probably hit a fish.

            It's a prop issue.

I have used up more props than any other Tige owner.

I get invited to the ACME Christmas party.

I now carry TWO spare props on the boat!

I'll give it another check tonight. I didn't get time yesterday but I'm hoping that's all it is. There's not a ton of crap floating in AZ lakes... It's possible I hit a keg or a drunk chick.

Wake Havasu, I heard that the boys at OJs props are going to start sending you baseball tickets and inviting you to corporate events to try and lure your business...??? Something about a large wholesale customer with only one account??? Too funny...

I don't know if weeds are a problem where you are, but if your prop or fins pick-up weeds you will feel a vibration.

Nope weeds are definitely not a problem here, it's all rock.

I have examined the shaft and prop very carefully and there is definitely no digs or scratches or anything that I can see. It spins fine. The only thing I can think is that it may be bent??? But I would imagine I'd see a scuff from whatever hit it and caused the bend. I'm starting to think it's the engine or tranny at this point.

What kind of prop are you running? SS or Nibral?

NIbral (acme) is very soft, and you can bend them pretty easily.

SS it hard, but it also has its own built in vibration problems.

I'm not really sure. I can post a picture of it tonight. It's the one that comes stock on the 24ve if anyone knows?

Wake, what good does it do, to carry those props? I thought that about 6 months ago, you were on here saying that changing the prop while still on the water was not a good idea.

i could be wrong. Just checking.

This is your best bet. I had a submerged log get caught in between my prop and my rudder. It bent the prop, the rudder, the shaft and my strut. $2K later, I'm back out on the water. The one good thing is that I did let them talk me into one of those new Acme 3 blades...major upgrade from my older 4-blade. Good thing insurance covered most of it.

What the holy hanna? Did you run over the log, or did it Sneak attack you?

I had a sneak attack from a submerged tree last year. It didn't tear anything up, but scared the crap out of me.

                              Dylan-

Does your prop look like brass, or is it all shiny like stainless steel? I'd bet you have a Nibral prop and you bent it a little.

But make sure you get it in to the dealer, they can get you taken care of.
