Does lifting an access pannel and then a cooler lid look functional? Seems too many steps to reach my beer and hit my head! Maybe the intent was to pull the cooler out for your picnic and push back in when done. image.jpg
I just got done reading "the malibu crew" thoughts on the ASR, and most of them are haters. Most are so sold on having the SG on there Malibu's, they think all boats need them to surf good. The truth is they just dont have any idea. I have owned 2 Malibu's, and loved them, but they did not surf worth a crap next to a RZ2, and my VLX drove like a tank when wieghted, and even worse when surfing. It all makes sence, there boats (Malibu's) need some more flappers hanging off the back of the boat to keep up with Tige. Oh and another thing they all say its a copy of the G23 hull design, we all know Tige has had the fish bowl hull with adj plate for a long time. I have more, but i feel better.
I think you have to have compare Apples to Apples
Im going the other way, I have owned 3 Tiges.. ( 2 X RX2 and 1 X Ve) and took out a 2013 VLX with SG about 3 weeks ago. Im guessing you have never driven a SG boat? That VLX surfed every bit as good as my RZ2's and was much more nimble while weighted ( no list) then my RZ2's with custom surf sacks ( basically both boats set up to surf) Surf gate has transformed the BU line.
For the record, we did have a friend that had a 2010 VLX ( ofcourse no SG) and yes that boat ( or any older BU) was useless for surfing in my opinion. I never even looked at BU before they introduced SG..
