Well, picked up our Z3 yesterday and when lowering the tower to put it in the garage, didn't realize they didn't lock in the inward position. So, just as the tower was almost down the board racks swing around and one of them took a nice chunk/deep scratch out of the gunwale on the port side. I was pissed, why in the h#@l do they not lock in the inward position. Dumb design... What do you all do to keep it from destroying the boat when the tower is lowered?

Clamping Board Racks

I use one of the bungee cords wrapped around the tower to hold the rack against the tower when folded. You should be able to leave the racks locked out and the tower should fold fine but I fold my racks in to give me a little wiggle room backing into the garage.2009 RZ2, PCM 343, MLA Surf Ballast, Premium Sound.

I have the clamping board racks on my 2012 RZR. I have to fold the tower down and board racks in each time I take the boat in and out of the garage.
I always place a towel down on the starboard side of the boat because my board rack rests on the grab handle inside the boat. I use these ties to secure the board racks inward:

Bungees don't work well as they stretch and let the clamping board racks swing out a bit when lowering. I've been hoping they would come up with some sort of way to lock them inward. I agree...bad design but I love the clamps!

I could never figure out why Tige continues to sell racks that do NOT lock when inboard for like 2 years now! I will never forget the first time when I folded down the alpha Z tower and the forks swung and hit the gel coat. I was so upset. It did not take me long to purchase Samson forks that lock in both in/out position. I could not be happier with Samson.

If you had a knowledgeable sales person they would have pointed that out. They would have asked if you planned on folding the tower. Then instructed you how to properly fold the tower. Everything you know about your boat starts with the dealer and the sales person.I do all my own stunt work. hey ya'll watch dis.

Samson are light, smooth operation, less bulky, and lock when stowed in or out from the tower.
I had factory racks and did not care for the push button to release rack.
I have no experience with the clamp racks.
