    New boat to me

So I wasn't even in the market, but you gotta love my dealer. He sends me a text offering me this 2012 z3 he just took in trade. After a few texts back and fourth he really made me a deal a couldn't refuse. I absolutely love the boat. I have always been partial to black and green anyway. Boat is set up with factory surf ballast, for now. I have the Convex VX on order and upgrading the ballast to custom bags over the winter. My question is on the stereo, more specifically the sub. My last boat was a 2010 RZ2 with a 10" wetsounds sub. The new Z3 has a 12" wetsounds sub and alot more wetsounds poewr running to it. The issue I have is sound. My RZ2 pounded! The Z3 lacks severly. I can see the sub working, but my thoughts are leaning more toward enclosure differences. The RZ2 had a huge compartment to reverberate the sound. The Z3 being completly closed off in the bow has a dinky little box. What have you guys done to solve this issue?

If Chpthril does not reply I would PM him. He should be able to offer some advise. Have you checked the power, gains, etc..? There are threads on here that explain how to set the gains.

Yea...spent quite some time adjusting gains, came to the conclusion it is simply the air space.....just not sure how to fix it.

        J,

We can help, but more info is needed before we can even begin down the right path.
Which Wet Sounds 12, the XS-12 or the XXXv2?
What amp is driving it? of its the OEM Syn-6, make sure the sub is bridged on chnls 5/6 and not just powered by one chnl.
Is the sub level control knob still mounted below the steering wheel, where know one hardly knows its there, and is it functioning?
What is the external dimensions of the enclosure?

the only one I can answer right now is the sub control. I have the Wetsounds EQ mounted under the steering wheel (same as my last boat) so as far as the sub control have that one under control and is working quite well. Will have to get to the boat for the other items. Will let you krow this Thursday. Thank you

            J,

What version EQ, 420 or 420SQ?

I would still like to know if the OEM installed sub level control knob is there and plugged up. They tend to be behind the helm and out of site. We dont need it and the WS-420 controlling the sub level together. The WS-420 controls the sub level pre-amp on the RCA line, while the Sub level control does internally of the amp. If the Sub level is in the mix, and turned down, the WS-420 can only turn the sub level up to the point at which the sub level knob is set to.

Here's what another Z3 owner did to fix the lack of bass problem:

              "a what? i can['t] say/spell/pronounce that word..." - wannabewakeboarder
"the plural of boo is booze."
