I used to ride in a private ranch that had a lake that was 3.5 - 4 feet and sometimes 3 feet deep. Luckily the bottom was mostly silt and soft sand. Disadvantages where when you wiped out and you would slightly graze the bottom of the lake and it would also affect the wake shape, that depth of the water would actually make the wake smaller.
Advantages where no boats, sliders, ramps, glass everywhere and did I mention it was a privately owned ranch/lake.
