Be careful, on the tried and true, the PCM engine is tried and true, but the Z1 is, not, the 2013 was a brand new Z1 , and i've had a few issues with mine, such as the trailer, (not tige's fault but none the less an issue) cracks and some pretty big gel coat issues, and some other quality issues, You may also question some of the handling of the new Z1, where it is a fantastic boat when it comes to wakeboarding and wakesurfing, it has some handling traits that may concern some new boat owners, its will really track on a swell, in other words it can really pull the boat side to side, and tilt it over substantially, so make sure your take it our for a through test drive, and make sure you like it

Good point. I was thinking he might not be fixed on a Z1 to the exclusion of all other models. As some here have noted, for that budget he should be able to find a 2013 Z3 which IMHO is a far better boat unless size is an issue. So when I was recommending "don't buy the first year of something" I was thinking of all the other fine Tige models for which 2013 wasn't their first model year.

What state are you located in? My local dealer here in Denver has a few leftover 2013's that I know you can get for less than that one!

I agree WABoating. I have bought 2 boats out of the states with no issues. It was easy getting across border and dealerships were excellent with the paper work. Biggest issue was the 20 hour drive with the guy in the truck--I was driving solo LOL. I like the dealer here and I bought my first one through them--but when I can save 10s of thousands of dollars--Ill take that drive. It means me getting the boat I want and can afford. Im not limited to where I go to buy a car or other items. If a dealer somewhere else has the boat you want why cant u get it from them. Just my thoughts and dont know all the ins and outs.

would be interested to see what he does buy. Not sure that i would buy a tige again......but the price was right on the one i bought, and it was still in the middle of production when i bought it sight un-seen, so i was able to change a few things and delete a few others, so the price was good...

I didn't say i would never buy one again, i said not sure if i would buy one again, knowing the things i have learned in the past buying outboard boats, and sterndrive boats and used boats, and learning about these types of tournement boats, I find the tige is a fantastic surf producing boat, and the interior layout, and the freeboard of my 2013 Z1 are awesome, but just the build quality just doesn't seem up to par with some of the other companies, for instance, the front ballast sacs, what a pain in the ***, they get twisted up and then won't drain or fill, and they are extremely tough to get at, specially the right one, (why not hard tanks????) lots of rub points and sharp edges, in the cubby hole, and the pass through window,. the Taped on graphics are crap, if you tie up to a dock , you will rip some of them, should be in-laid graphics, and i've had some gel coat issues as well...and the PDI was horrible, nobody cleaned the rubbing compound dust and gel coat dust from under the seats, and when they got wet, it mixed with this dust to produce a paste, and that paste has embedded itself into the seats and now when they get a little damp, all they crap comes out milky white..., so these little things, kinda leave a bad taste, if you know what i mean....
But then again, they are things the company could improve on, hence why i say , not sure if i would buy again.....

My dealer has been great to try and go above and beyond. They are sick of the problems that they have had with tiges also. They may drop tige in 2014. I love how tiges surf.I do all my own stunt work. hey ya'll watch dis.

Finally got a chance to respond back to everyone. First of all I would like to thank every one who has replied back to my original post. I value every ones opinions! I didn't expect such a heated debate over a simple question, but I would like to say that it did help me in my negotiations. I can see both sides of this argument( dealer vs. buyer). If a new customer comes to a dealer and gets 10% of stock card price, they may think it's a good deal. It's still a better deal than other leading tow/surf boat manufacture's prices. When a return customer (like myself) wants to upgrade to a better surf/wakeboard boat, they should not treat them as a stranger and be more willing to work with there prices! I love my R20, and have had nothing but great customer service from my dealer and from Tige. From my experience, if there are problems with the new indmar engines, or anything else related to the new 2014's , tige will own up to there mistakes and correct them as soon as possible.
With all this being said, I would like to say between my dealer and Tige, they have come in at a more reasonable price on this boat. Negotiations are still in process and for all those still tuned in, I will keep you posted!!!
thanks again to every one involved,
Glides
