Rear tie downs to trailer

I just took delivery on a 24ve and I noticed that the rear tie down hooks touch the swim step. I afraid that this is putting a lot of pressure on the swimstep. I have a extreme trailer with the retractable tie downs.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Mine is the same on my 22ve with a DHM Trailer! I can just barely snug it or it rubs the deck.

I hook mine through the holes in the swim platform bracket. I didn't like the way they were rubbing against the gel coat when I put them up above.

i have those, love them. my dealer told me to not hook them up at the hook, but to just hook them on the bracket that holds the swim platform on. the lover one that you can see in the picture above. i thought that would be knida weak, but my dealer said it would be ok. so far havent had any problems.

I have the regular straps on mine. They do create an odd angle. I have to put the latches downward because the swim platform gets in the way of the latch.

I was always putting a towel under the hooks. Thanks for the swim step bracket idea.

There was no way I was going to hook the straps to the lift rings on our new 22v and damage the gel coat, I am hooking up to the platform supports as well.
I just make sure not to over tighten the straps because I am not sure how much pressure the platform supports can handle.

With the same concerns of scuffing the gel coat I set out to find a solution. Found some material similiar to the clear tape you see near the wheel splatter area on suv's / trucks. Its opaque and reasonably thick so I'm going to give it a try. If it looks crappy I'll keep looking for another solution. I'm also going to put a little piece on the tower where occassionally the bimini poles will tap. My straps do not touch the swim step, but I have teak.

another problem is that if you have a 24v the straps rub against the transom and scratch the gel coat. Have to put small towel under the strap... TIGE could have installed a set of lift eyes under the curved part of transom for strapping.......

Just had another thought....this is getting scarry. What about utilizing those sheep skin seat belt pads. They would slip over the strap and should not scuff the gel coat. Thoughts / concerns????

whatever you put underneath it looks lousy! Need a better design.

I hook to swim deck support as well. When in for service the dealer questioned this area. I figure a 24V is heavy enough it's not going to try to move much, unless it get's really ugly. Maybe Andrew could address this how much will the swim deck hold? Somebody somewhere has done the engineering.
