2013 Tige Z1 front ballast sac draining...

    hello everybody,

has anybody out there with a New Z3 or Z1 , having issues with draining their front ballast sacs? On my Z1, i've noticed that they don't drain fully and get easily twisted up there, because of the how the empty pump is mounted higher the the inlet of the water , is this a bad design or did factory not hook it up properly? (i basically roll then up and squeeze as much water to the pump outlet but this is not the easiest thing to do)

Pretty common. I would bet if most people stuck their hand around the black barriers they would find that their sacs have some water in them. The twisting is also pretty common. I now in one of my demo boats the sac was twisted around enough it didn't want to drain. Easy to fix, just have to keep an eye on them.

I installed deck plates in my black dividers, large 10" deck plates, so that I could access the bags and see them, while at the same time maintaining the clean look in those storage compartments. I ran the boat with the dividers removed for most of the summer though. I always run the boat bow up to get most of the residual water out of the bags when I'm done with the initial draining.

I know I'm stating the obvious, but if it's getting wet, you have a leak somewhere. I discovered a leak in the fill hose this weekend, hose had a small split in it right at the check valve. I've also had drips where the drain hose connects to the thru hull. They don't fit very tightly, so I typically use 2 screw-type hose clamps on each drain thru hull. Here's the deck plate I'm referring to. The example is a 4", but I used a couple 10" plates with a clear cover:

yup, but i believe that the wetness, came from the the few rollers i took over the bow, in the summer, and leaving the cover off during a torrenchal (sp?) rain storm , ha ha ha
