Major dealers are already planning there exit strategy on selling Tige boats.

After what I dealt with my 2012 Tige, as well as a buddies 13 Z1 you will not see me say a good thing about a Tige....They Surf great when running, besides that they are a low quality built boat.
I was talking about past and present Nautiques, I guess you think because Im a dealer that I have no experence with other brands, you need to visit our dealership , outside right now are 4 Nautiques, 4 MC and a Malibu we get the bulk of the area repair because of our reputation, including in many cases warranty of other brands, also my sons work in show skiing you havent seen all the Nautique failures in competition, like rudder stall, ski poles coming out of the boat, the 200 cant get out of the other boats wake do to chime lock, so your perceived quality just issnt there, I personally have sponsored the Tampa Show Team with a boat for 9 years , same boat under extream use 1500hrs never been down , also the northern teams are useing just last couple of years R20s , we can out accelerate , out turn any apples to apples Nautique on the water, my 9 year old 20i out weighs a 200 by almost 1000 lbs and can still out perform that boat same engine, so my quality definition is based on years of working on and usage of said products.

Dom dont take it personally. I have talked to your son several times on the phone. You guys run a tight ship and if I lived in your area I would probably buy a boat from you. I know that you used to sell Malibus and why you guys quit selling them. I think malibus have a nicer gel coat and some fit and finish then a Tige....BUT I dont think they have a well built boat either. Mastercaft and Nautque do have a better built boat and have more R&D put into them then Tige and others. Tige boats are a good boat, but for the correct price. I would never buy a Tige if the price was within 5-10% of a Nautique or Mastercraft. Tige boats make sense for a price point but not that of MC or CC. Once again I know that a Tige may have a better wakesurf then many of the other boats out there but Im looking for a little more then just a good wakesurf. I want a well built boat that surfs well. I have surfed behind a 13 MC X2, X10, X25, X30 and an Xstar this year. I have been behind a 14 VLX, MXZ 20, MXZ 22, and a 247 LSV.....also been behind a 13 SANTE 210, 230, and several 13 and 14 G23s. I have seen how they surf. Most do not compare to the Tiges wake suf. The G23 does surf pretty good out of the box, I have to say.

I gave Tige a chance to make my situation right with my boat and I went to buy a 13 Z1 as Tige/Dealer was going to give me 100% of my money back on my boat to buy a new tige. The 13 Tige Z1 I went on had more quality issues then my 12 RZR. Thats when I decided I was done and I will find a new brand. I will be surfing a 14 Z3, and a 14 Z1 next week so I look forward to seeing how the quality is on the 14 boats. I am not a brand loyal person and never will be. I do my homework and make my decision on several factors. I care enough about people that I will share my experence with my Tige boat. I would hate to have someone spend the money I spent on a boat and have the problems I had.

That is what is good about forums like this. It helps out other people when they are doing their homework to buy a boat. If a person comes on here and gets real people's experience with the brand, good or bad, it helps them know what they are buying. I am sure they are getting information on the other brands from other forums. You can't walk into a dealership and ask a salesman to tell you experiences like this. I also think it varies from dealership to dealership on how problems are handled. Unfortunately a person can't buy out of their area. So hearing great reports on here of certain dealers taking care of their customers must be frustrating because if you have a terrible dealer in the area you live you are stuck with buying a boat from him. Or choosing another brand. In the city I live in the Ford truck dealership is horrible for service after you buy your truck. I would never buy from them. But I can drive an hour down the highway, buy a Ford truck and still have full warranty and service plan. The guy down the road takes care of his customers and because of this sells a lot more trucks. I know this debate has been on here before about dealer protection but how about customer protection. That dealer knows if you want to buy a new Tige you have to buy it from him. Shitty service or not.

About the only R&D that the MC and Nautiques have is how to copy , Tige trim plate , Centurion ballast system, Centurion v- drive, Tige spray pockets 1991, TSC hull ski Nautique 1996 copy, convex v hull Tige , G23 hull with trim plate copy, fit and finsh I do just as much interior and exterior work on the higher price MC and CC , so thats where we differ, they dont have any less problems and they dont have any better resale.

Some people buy a name and are awed by what they hear. Others take their real world experience and knowledge from first hand experience and make decisions like that. Just like with your car or truck the factory has checks and the dealer is the final inspector of your vessel. I too have had bad dealer experiences, but I don't blame the manufacturer.
I do all my own stunt work. hey ya'll watch dis.

I agree competely that dealers are supposed to be the final check, but I cant blame a dealer when it has gel coat issues, a convex VX bracket made incorrectly or bolted incorrectly from the factory. I also cant blame a dealer when Taps system fails within first 30 hours of ownership, interior seats failing within first year, ballast passively filling in the rear hard tanks, and blower motors not working. If the dealer is slow to react to these manufacture problems then the dealer is at fault also.

In my area we happen to have two dealers that have very sloppy service bays, late to respond to customers problems.....they happen to be Malibu and Tige. On the other side the Nautique dealer and the MC dealer run a tight ship and you can tell when you see there setups and the boats they show customers.

Do I think that all manufactures have problems? Of course, the difference that I have seen in a 3 state area around me is Tige happens to pick the WORSE dealers to use. This tells me that Tige is not willing to invest in better dealers in my area for there customers. I know SEVERAL dealers leaving Tige this year and next from the headaches they have gotten by the lack of quality boats received.

I have nothing to gain from this other then to try and help others learn from my problems I encountered.

This saying isn't famous because it is a lie
"The two happiest days in a boat owner's life, are the day you buy the boat and the day you sell the boat"
"You're rather attractive for a beautiful girl with a great body."

Boats are much like RV's . They are both mostly hand built. You will find the same issues with both when they are new. A lot of minor things that need to be addressed. This is true across the board. How the dealers handles them makes all the difference to the customers. One question to Barry1me. When you sold your Tige were you this honest and truthful about ALL the PROBLEMS you had with your Tige? Just wondering who you REALLY want to help?

Before I sold my boat I took it to the dealer and had them fix 100% of the problems. This took about the last 3 weeks of my summer away. Most of the problems I had though were last summer, and at the beginning of this year( water pump breaking). I put 40 hours on it this year and only had a problem with ballast filling passively, depth gauge freezing up, auto bilge not working, blower motor blowing fuses (after the diode fix), rear transom handle replaced, front cooler leaking, and carpet edging unravelling. My dealer fixed 100% of these issues before I sold the boat. I would have not handed off a boat with problems, thats not good karma.

I was 100% honest with the guy and told him everything that was done to the boat and I told him that I would not reccomend buying a new Tige let someone else go through all the problems first like I did and then have it good to go for him. I think it will be a good boat for the guy, I wish the best to him and hope its the best boat he has ever owned.

Build Quality is more or less the same on all boats, Fiberglass techniques that have been used in the past 50 years are tried and true, and it suprises me that in this day and age, that people still have issues with blistering and the such, I think this boils down to workers and management, quality and workmanship start from the top. If management does not care, neither will the workers on the production line, It has been said here already, It all boils down to the last person who sees the boat, and in most cases its the dealer, But i am more upset with my boat, cause its the little things that could be corrected easily, but nobody really cares even if your buying a 75 plus k boat. I had three campion boats prior to my tige and in each case except for the first one (cause it was used and suffered from dry rot), they the manufacturer went far and beyond to make me happy.. and I had some issues with cracking and the like, and they were nothing but accomodating in the repairs...I am not specific to one brand, but i do believe the dealer has a huge impact as to what brand of boat you buy. If the BU dealer in your area is better then the MC or Tige dealer, you buy from them etc..

                          just my 4 cents worth

I agree about the building of the boats today , there is one more part to the equation as to fiberglass layup , age of factory and what part of the country, here in Florida is a more difficult problem do to humidity and temp. 2 criticle items which effect blistering .
