    Stock R20 Tower and 4 Rev10's

Long story short, I came across a pretty good deal for some tower speakers and amp.
My simple question is that can a stock R20 tower (i believe the vector) hold up 4 REV10's without causing issues for the tower or boat fiberglass?

New to 2 point towers and this tower in particular, so your thoughts, opinions and comments are appreciated.

Not according to Tige. They say no period to rev 10's, even 1 set. They will only sell Rev 8's as an option on that tower. After having a couple weekends on one I wouldn't recommend it. If your boat is under warranty it will void the warranty of the tower.

What? That is insane. Hang weight of a Rev8 = 12.8 lbs. Rev10 = 14.8 lbs. I cannot believe that they would be so close to the max capacity of the tower that a difference of 2 lbs per speaker could cause problems. Especially when you consider the loads that a wakeboarder puts on the tower when cutting hard.

I agree with Dingle, sounds fishy. In order for this to void a warranty, it would need to be spelled out clearly that a tower accessory exceeding X lbs, will overload the tower and void the warranty. I d not see and additional 4 lbs worth of speakers breaking a threshold. I will say though, a tower full of speakers does stress a tower in a different manor then that of a rider in tow.

I'm not 100% sure about the warranty issue but I do for a fact they will not offer it as a factory accessory on that tower. To quote what the option sheet says.."Wet Sounds Tower of Power System w/REV 10's(not available w/Vector Tower)." Also says it under 20i, Z1, RZ2, RZ4 and Z3 if optioned with Vector Tower?

Not sure why the factory wouldn't sell you a more expensive option if it was OK.

I'm sure one set would be OK. But I would worry about 2. If you've been on an R20 you might understand what I am saying. Its a big difference from the Alpha Z. Listening to it creek and seeing it move with my 100 lb kids makes me nervous. I'd be more nervous with 80 lbs of speakers hanging over my head on it. It doesn't compare to the Alpha Z in strength at all.

So, is there a limit on the weight of wakeboarders or surfboarders? That is going to be a lot more weight and force than speakers. This reminds me of the debate on using the pylon to pull a tube.

Sorry to hear that Tige put out such a POS tower, I thought that they were above that.

i wouldn't slice that pie too quick. Tige not offering the REV-10 on the vector just opens the doors for speculation. Remember, the R20 and vector are Tiges price point options. The Wet Sounds Rev-10 is not.

I really doubt it has any thing to do with price point on the R20 as the price difference with the tower of power between the 8's and the 10's is $132 bucks!! They offer the posieden mat on it at a $1200 option. They also list no 10's on Vector towers on the other boats of they are optioned with them.

I don't know the engineering of the tower but it does seem pretty weak that it can't hold the 10's. I guess we are all kind of speculating why they don't offer them until someone from Tige comments. I can tell you the Vector has some serious noise and movement even with lighter riders. I personally wouldn't put 4 REV 10's on that tower. That is my personal opinion after putting about 22 hours on 2 different R20's the last month. I do think one set of 10's would be OK.

I should clarify, that I already have one set of 10's up there.
they just look lonely and just like a lot of people said they offer 4 8's, so would and extra 4-10 lbs really effect it.

However, from a lot of the comments, it looks like i should be careful.

Wishing i could have optioned a sampson 4 point tower right now

I have 4 REV8's on mine and have had no trouble at all. I would've installed 10's but thought that they would hang to low from the tower. Jeepdude's right about one pair looking lonely though! I was going with one pair until I saw what they looked like!

I guess I don't see how they could not work. Too heavy? It might not be as solid as a alpha z bit it's still an engineered tower made to withstand extreme forces, right? I would be pretty disapointed if adding 4 speakers to your factory tower compromised the boat's structural integrity.

We have 4 Pro60's mounted on a vector tower and have no issues with excessive noise or movement - I assume that the 60's are much lighter than the 10's though. Our regular 3rd (who rides) is 6'6" 260lbs, no tower issues when towing him either. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the tower when I first saw it in person.
