    Steering Really Tight

The last couple times out I've noticed that the steering has gotten more and more difficult to turn. Is there a grease fitting on the steering cable or near the rudder somewhere?

Just went through this. Sounds like time for a new steering cable. There are some great tips in the How To section. Replaced mine and now have one finger steering again.

I'm guessing that's covered under the Service 360 right? Is there anything I can do to improve the steering in the interim? It's the salt water steering if that makes any difference.

I'm taking a couple friends from work out on the boat next weekend and will bring it in for service afterwards.

There is a grease fitting on the rudder assembly. Probably won't make a big difference, but worth giving it a squirt of marine grease.

Your boat is a 2012? I replaced mine last year but I figured it only lasted 3 years because it sat on the dealers lot for a year and no one moved the steering cable much. You can't lube the cable, it's a sealed system. I would look around in the bilge or along the run of the cable to make sure there is nothing in the way of the rudder arm in the stern or that there are no kinks in the line along the run. To try to make it last longer make sure the wheel is full left when not in use and add those grounding lines to the rudder assembly that Dom Forte installs on the boats he sells.

Yes, it's a 2012. I haven't heard turning the wheel all the way to the left when not using the boat.

I do have a zinc anode installed which has ground wires ran to several various components including the rudder. I assume that's what you were talking about.

It's the steering cable. I have a '12 RZ4 and replaced mine this summer because of the same issue. Took about an hour with 2 other guys and a 12'er of Coors Light :-) Back to 1 finger steering like Jmoore15.
