I hate to say it... but I am super excited to Water test (Surf) a 2013 Malibu VLX with surf gate on Wednesday with my inlaws. From my research on the BU crew. 500lb-600LB in each rear locker and about 350-400lb in the bow should make a very competitve wake to what I am use to in my RZ2. I am really curious to see if it lacks push.. This seams to be the latest throw back dealers are using when trying to knock a gate equipped boat.

The boat in question is a left over 13 with PNP, so the dealer is going to put the extra sacks into it for the demo.. I will be sure to post my report and finding... If it's good... I wan't Tige to hear this lots so they build my dream machine...

The 23 LSV is OK. The problem I have with it is that the lip is short and then the wake is large but really mellows out and find it is hard to get a face to get airs off of. It is not the worst boat out there. When we ride our z3 against it our wake is a few feet longer. For perspective our wake looks as long as the boat and the 23 lsv looks a hair over 3/4 length of the boat. What is good about the z3 is that the lip is much longer and you can pretty much air it out all the way to the roost. So the useable wake is much better. Height wise I would say they are comparable.

I am going to predict that you are going to want a little more weight to compare it to your RZ2, assuming you have a surf sack of some sort. If the dealer swaps out the 500 pound bags for 1100 pounders, then you would be talking. But please post results. I have only heard them talk about surfgate, haven't even seen one in person.
        Be excellent to one another.

This was on a friends 2014 VLX with surfgate that we were on last night. 11.2mph, wedge fully down, equally ballasted with stock rear ballast plus 600lbs PNP in rear.

There is no lip. I know on our Z3 we can make a wake almost flat on the regular side, very little list. But you have to lean over until that same lip wash and cut go away to get a wake with the right shape and lip. I have seen that same characteristic on most or all of the videos of surfgate and nss, and also here on a boat on our local lake. That characteristic makes a big difference when doing lip tricks, especially air. I am guessing it goes away when you list over a bit?

Matt, you can kick me out if you need to. I totally understand. I've held my tongue longer than I care to for this windbag.

Put a VX on that thing and it would clean the wave right up, as long as you had the correct brackets! Sorry, couldn't resist

the malibus with surfgate definatley have a different shaped wake then a Tige. Every G23 I have been on with NSS has a beautiful shaped wake to it, much different then a Malibu.

There is a VLX with surfgate on our lake, and have asked us to go out with them, schedule just hasn't worked out. Looking forward to it. I really want to see a 23LSV with SG.

                      Woohoo! Free joints.

Ya, sorry. I'm in 110% anti BS mode this week.

Here's what I think of the new Centurion. As a purpose built surf machine, I like it. The center helm means that the driver is never a factor in port/starboard ballast. It's a little tight though. There's no way in hell a fat person could ever even drive it. It appears to have huge ballast capacity. I don't see any foot well for the bow. Even if it does have one, look at all the underseat volume. Mega. I figure if you load both sides, you're going to be around at least 4k? Well over legal for that hull? Fact checkers insert specs here. Throw an FAE on it and you're in business.

As an everyday boat,it's horrible. It'll never sell. All the reasons that have been posted already are all applicable. It would be fun to go for a ride on but nobody in their right mind is ever going to buy one, no matter how good it surfs. It's going to be just about as successful as the Wave.

I applaud Centurion for building it. It's nice to see someone pushing the envelope. I can't wait to see some pics and vids of it in action.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.
