    Progressive

I can't go with Progressive out of pure principle.

Peter Lewis, their chairman, has donated over $8 million to the ACLU.

After shopping around we went with Boater's Insurance Agency. It was at a good price and covered exactly what we needed.

I just bought my Tige, and could not believe how cheap insurance was. I was expecting to pay a ton, but went through progressive and it was only $419 a year for full coverage. It covers everyone on my boat and everything. I thought that was awesome.

              Chris,

What year is your boat? I called them last year, and they wanted $600. Stayed with WestMar. This year, I am switching to USAA, now that I know about it..... But my point is, last year my boat was 2 years old, and was only $30K to begin with. Progressive was the most expensive of the ones I checked out.

As everyone knows the coverage impacts the price. My 2004 22i, located in So. California, is $590 through Progressive. Coverage is $100/300k liability, $100k unisured boater, $1000 personal effects and total replacement of $47k (not depreciated value), all with $100 deductibles. They have disappearing deductible for no claims, which is why mine low.

I thought I was doing pretty good based on a quick check when I renewed but would like to hear if others with similar coverage found a better deal.

That's about what progressive quoted me last year. Like I said though, my boat is only $30K.

I was using WestMar at $488/ year.

This year USAA quoted me $252/ year. .. I will be switching next week, when my other runs out.

                      progressive.
I have the total loss replacement....that means if I total it in the first 4 yrs of my policy..they buy me a new one or cash me out for what I have set the rate base on the policy for (purchase price). It is no hassle. It has the deminishing ded 25% A YEAR W/O LOSS. It is one of the best out there for new boats. On used boats you can set an agreed value w/progressive also.
It is great coverage to have. I should know, I work there and speciallize in these claims.
                      -------
btw make sure you are comparing apples to apples when getting quotes. make sure your limits and coverages are the same.

I will say this. My cousin is the head "house keeper" for the guy that started Progressive. So that's cool. No, I do not get a discount.

Oh, and yes, my cousin is gay, I AM NOT!!! lol

I have NBOA ( National Boat Owners Association) . Very similar to Davids coverage. It also includes on water towing which saves $100 /yr I was paying vessel assist. $479/yr. 20Th Century, my home and car insurer does not do boats. This was the best I could find last year when I bought the boat and this year when I renewed.
                            Let it be!!!

                              Boat Insurance

I hope that you realize that your credit score and overall credit standing will affect your insurance rates. Lower scores will get you higher insurance. This is especially true for auto (in many states, not all) and is also being applied to boat insurance.

i just can't buy insurance from progressive. what do you do whenever you have a claim? make call after call to figure out what to do? we use state farm for absolutely everything. whenever something goes wrong here, i walk in and talk to my agent. the price is very reasonable but i believe you get what you pay for.
