Z3 bow access holes

    Z3 bow access holes

    I took the front seats off of my Z3 with the help of my buddy to do some cleaning and so he could show me some stuff. I took a picture of what it looks like. He says his RZR has access holes which you think would be very nice to troubleshoot different problems, mess with ballast etc. etc. Do any Z3 have the access holes he is talking about or do they all look like mine?? Has anyone drilled holes to make your own access points?? The way it is set-up now looks like changing the ballast bags and some other maintenance would be a huge pain.

    To the best of my knowledge current model RZR's do not have any access holes. I believe the older ones had an access hole under the front cushion, but current 13-14 do not have that access.

      Why did Tige stop drilling the holes?? Anyone know? Any negative in drilling your own holes? I would like to know why Tige at one point drilled holes and now doesn't. Cost thing they just don't want to take the time to make some holes or some kind of structural integrity thing...

        So there is no way to access the ballast? Is that whole deck fiber glassed to the hull or is it removable? Surely they would have a way to service this area!

          Ballast can be accessed by removing the black dividers in the observers compartment and in the little locker in front of the helm. Pretty tough on the helm locker. If your not familiar with how these are built its in a top and bottom "half". Then when all the install is done in the top and bottom hulls they are mated together. I am sure the ballast is all laid out very nicely when there is nothing on top in the way. Some of the stuff is nearly impossible to repeat once the boat is together. I learned this when I worked for a Caterpillar dealer on skid steers as they are built the same way, with a lower and upper half.

          Iron I do not know why they stopped the holes and I'm not 100% sure if they ever did. I have never seen a boat that had holes. I know there is a RZR owner on here that talked about enlarging the front hole to be able to adjust the bags. I think it was Houston.

              It is funny, well actually it's not, but my Z3 cooler must drain on this top "half" section and just sit there also. So how the heck am I supposed to change front ballast bags?? There is no way I am fitting up there. Even with the dividers moved still seems like a huge pain. Still want to know why Tige can't drill a hole or two to give people access. Just being cheap if you ask me. I mean come on Tige, drill us some holes and fix my freaking cooler...what the hell is going on with you guys....

              If you have a Z3 might want to check out the "General Technical Questions" section of this forum and read the Z3 cooler drain problem. There is not a lot of traffic that reads that section but the cooler is a problem and I think the more people that have the problem and come forward then Tige might be willing to address it. If anyone is having their Z3 built now I would be knocking on Tige's door telling them that my cooler better not leak when I get the boat.

                Hello fellas, i have 2013 Z1 , and you have to crawl in there, its a pain, i just winterized my boat and yes, its tight, and i managed to get both sacs out and drain them, passenger side is fairly easy to access, but the helm one is tougher, but once you remove the plate over the heater, its comes out fairly easy, ....

                  Yep, gotta crawl up under there. The Z3 isn't bad. The rest are a squeeze. What really sucks is if you DON'T take it out of there it really has the potential to stink up the joint. Unless you're SUPER diligent and get air flow through out the boat and under those sacs each time you're done then your boat will stink. These are all things MOST new boat owners never think about. Hard tanks are where it's at. We air out each and every one of our customers inboard boats when they drop them off for winterizing and storage. It's a pain but it's worth it in the end.

                      The cooler is in the center of the bow, under the filler cushion.

                      I hope thats not how you found the bags???? That is not where they belong. There should not be a bag in your observers compartment.

                        Ha ha ha nope i put them there for now, just to dry and have air circulate in the bow, took a few huge rollers over the bow one time and left the cover off thinking that a monsoon wasn't
                        actually gonna develop that night at the lake...lmao
