    Board Rack Bungee

Has anyone had issues with the bungee on your board racks cracking and breaking?
Also my wakesurfer is to wide for the bungee, wanted to see what suggestion you guys had.

It happened on my buddies 04'. The stuff would also rubb off on you for some reason. I wouldn't worry about it, unless they snap, then contact your tige dealer for a replacement, they can't be too expensive.

For your wakesurf - I put one bungee over the wakesurf and then loop the other bungee through the hole at the end of the first, running the second bungee on the same side of the surfboard down to the connection that was meant for the bungee from the opposite side. So you only have one bungee going over the top of the board. That has worked for me.
      Be excellent to one another.

Companies are starting to make special board racks for wakesurfers. Check out Monster Tower's.

KTLW- If they are the wake design's rack's, I do have the same problem. I contacted them and talked to Yvonne, she said they are $20 and was offering them to me for $15 and they are covering shipping and that's for one rack.
I'm on a boat man. I got my flippy floppies....

Yes, my bungee broke the very first time I used it on my 06! Luckily it didn't take my eye out!

On my '04 Wake Design racks the solid rubber bungees have been replaced by the dealer twice already. I like the previous Wake Design racks on my last Tige. It had a bungee cord with fabric over the elastic strands, so they were protected from the sun.

I did add an additional rack from Mako for wake surfers. It has a wider fork opening for the thicker boards and longer bungee. I don't think they are still in business.

Yeah mine are getting the rubber cracks already and they're brand new! I wonder if you oiled them if it would help?

Don't use amor all, I think that contributed to the failure of my last set.

I have been spraying 303 on my current set.

I've got some paintball gun oil that keeps all the o-rings from cracking that might work well. I'll try it tonight and repost.

I've got an '04 22v with the wake designs racks- the straps were dryrotting within the 1st 2 months of ownership. Additionally, the fingers on both of these racks have broken (bottom side). To make matters worse, it looks like a rottweiler has been chewing on my tower- right were the racks clamp on.

Unfortunately, Wake Designs is still trying to pawn off this cheap pot-metal crap on the public. Tigé, however is using a similar design on their factory swivel racks. Difference? Tigé uses billet aircraft aluminum- instead of polished crap that I wouldnt use for an anchor.

Next time they break, I'm going for a set of monster racks!

As for the straps on the new swivel racks- It APPEARED that they had more oil in the rubber that composes them, meaning they would last longer... but from what you're telling us, that may be wishful thinking.

I have a pair and they are stout! The bungees are pretty resilient. They don't appear to be stretching out.
