    tower and storing

Gotta leave my boat outside for a few months over the winter. Can you fold down the alpha Z tower and then put the cover over top? Just not sure if it fits. Any other tips or tricks you do. Boats usually in a garage but with the move its not possible and its only for 3-4 months. Winter temp where we are going doesnt get much below zero and not alot of snow. Dont feel like shrink wrapping unless its a must as its a 300 dollar plus hit. Thanks

I tried it and it won't work at all with the stock cover. The cover fits to tight no room for it. We also considered putting a second larger cover over the stock cover and then the folded tower. Problem with this is the Alpha folds inside the boat and that doesn't work with the cover on. I tried putting a 2x6 across the boat for the tower to sit on but then it sits up really high and you'd need a huge cover to go over the top.

Shrink wrap is worth the $300 IMO to protect the boat right.

What about covering the boat and then pick up some pallet wrap and wrap the tower by itself? This would also allow you to wrap the cover tight around the tower to prevent moisture/snow/dust/dirt from getting in around the tower. Just an idea.

At the end of the day I would X2 boardman74

If you don't want to shrink wrap I would keep the tower up, put on the regular cover and use some ropes tied to the tower and trailer and quality heavy duty tarps with a steep angle to keep the snow off. It's no subsitiute for a professional shrink wrap job but thats the best I can think of.

These boats are shipped to the dealers with thick plastic covers that cover the whole boat, including the tower in a lowered position. If you are near a dealer, you can ask if he has kept any of those or see if he has any shipments coming in that he can keep one from. If you're not close to a dealer or they don't have one, maybe Tige would send you one. I imagine it would be cheaper than shrink wrap. I used one from my dealer when I had to store my boat with the tower lowered. It worked pretty well on a temporary basis.

Another option, if you could find a storage shed that you can fit the boat into that would be less than 300 for the duration of your move.

I paid my dealer the $300 for a towing cover when I moved this spring. it's plastic, secured by string and shrinkwrapped to the boat. nice thing is that I was real careful when I removed it and now have a cover that will go over the boat when the tower is down that should get 2-3 more seasons of storage in the garage out of it to keep the dust off.

I'd spend the money, make sure it's a removable cover and now when you store in the winter if you have a garage that you can't put the tower up there's a way to keep the winter dust out..

You wont spend $300 to protect an $80,000 boat for three months - thats a $100 a month. Wrap that sucker!

Thanks guys--some ideas I thought about and some new ones. Ya whiteflash it seems kinda silly to look at cheaping out and I might just end up wrapping it this year.
