    Alpha Z "Surf Tow Points"?

According to Tige's site: "The Alpha Z is the only tower with specific surf tow points on both sides of the tower designed to keep riders in the sweet spot."

Does anyone happen to know what they are refering to? The only thing we have thought this could refer to is the holes that are cut out on each side of the tower top (east and west of center). There is no specific place to attach a rope, unless we are missing something. This past weekend we wrapped a T handle rope through this and around the tower to help keep a new rider on the correct side, is this what they mean?

That is exactly what they are talking about, the holes cut in the tower. Guess you just have to tie a knot. Not for me. Paint chips/ falls off easy enough without wrapping a rope around it! We use the center and it has never been an issue. Its kind of funny because by the time you know what the sweet spot is you are already riding without the rope!

Correct, those notches or handles as we use them to climb in and out of the boat at the dock are the attachment points they refer to. Wake9 makes a specific "Nubbin" as they call it to more easily attach your rope to that point of the tower.

In no way am I knocking the Wake9 Nubbin, but correct rope length and a little driver skill will pull the surfer up and put them right in the pocket every time, regardless of where on the tower the rope is attached. I would also worry about the powder coat getting rubbed off over time. Heck, I saw the powder coat get rubbed through to the aluminum by the bimini on a 140K boat after just a 45 minute trip down the road. Damn boat hadnt even been in the water and already needed a warranty repair.

Hadnt those hand-holds been there since the inception of the Alpha-Z? 6th model year now? Like having windshield wipers as decoration, then realizing they have some purpose

I didn't think it was a big deal to pull from the side vs the center but I have to say that after riding in the EWT behind the Z3 and pulling from the side, it is a little bit easier. I didn't think it would make any difference at all but it seemed to.

after pulling from the side points of our RZR I would never pull from the center of the tower again. We pull from the center of the tower all the time from my buddies G23 and it works ok but it is easier for beginner riders and all riders from that point to use the side location. NO gel coat issues or rub marks on our tower from using side points and thats the only place we ever used it.

once experienced, it makes no difference on the tow point that I have ever seen, but when teaching a noob, I have had several that have benefitted from a tieoff point on the side. it keeps them from gravitating toward the middle of the wake. forces them to stay on either side.

Ww always pull from the side and have no problem with wear on the tower.
