Couple problems: need a little help

I have a couple of problems that came up today while on the water and need a little help. 1. My steering is now very hard to turn. Any thoughts? 2. Tower speakers wouldn't come on but rest of in boat speakers are fine. I assume it is a fuse?? I haven't pulled the fuse yet to check but am assuming that's what it is. Anything else I should look for? Thanks.

Sure your cable is just screwed. Change it before your helm gets loose from reefing on it.

Stereo I would check the fuses as you mentioned and then see if the amp is powering on. It may be shot if water was dripping on it from the cup holders..

The amp will have a light to indicate the amp is powered up. The color will indicate if its in normal mode or protect mode. If not lights on the amp, then the next step is to check for B+ on the amps main power terminal and remote turn-on terminal and B- on the amp main ground terminal with a volt meter. If B+ and B- are present, then test both sides of the fuses for B+. If no B+ or B- on the main terminals, the trace back to the battery on which ever circuit is missing. The amp ground should be connected directly to a battery and the B+ will be connected to the house battery with an inline fuse holder and circuit breaker. If no B+ on the turn-on wire, then trace it back to the head-unit.

Does SSC 13419 sound right for the cable?

Yes, that is probably the factory part number, the better steering cable is SSC 15419. The 154 in the part number is for the Teleflex extreme cable which is more flexible and is supposed to last longer than the 134, the standard cable. It's a few bucks more but I put the extreme cable in my boat and I'm very satisfied. The 19 at the end of the part number is the length, 19'. Did you get your part number from the cable in your boat?

Thanks EWOK for the info on the extreme cable. I got the part number from Tige but the gentlemen I spoke with hesitated a little on the number so I thought I would check.
