Finally got my new surfboard!

After searching high and low, and getting great feed back from Tige owners, I received my new custom board today. It is a local label "Sack Down" shaped by Randy formerly with Shred Stix. I think the board looks great. Randy did an awesome job and was a true professional to work with. I can't wait to ride it this weekend. Thanks to all the Tige Owners that have offered advice on surfboards in the past. Also, big thanks to Scott May with Sack Down for letting me demo multiple boards .image.jpg

Not trying to take your thread off track there, Yessup. It's just that when you say you can't get a surfable wave out of what is probably one of, if not the finest surfing D-Drive in history well, its pretty tough to let that go. I'm very interested in that new board.

Nicky, i checked your pics out, and I clearly was misinformed about the wake possibilities that my boat has. Your wake looks great. Ive been very curious about your progress with your boat. I even posted on your ballast thread recently, asking for more pics. (Keep the pics coming ) I have been struggling with what to do with my boat- sell it and up grade to v-drive, or invest in my boat and do an overhaul. Ie, upholstery, tower, ballast system like you have. In reality , I have only got my boat out on 3 different weekends this year. Hard to justify the expense of a new/used boat when I probably put 15-20 hours on the boat this year. Last year was the same. What you do if you we're in my shoes? You have given me renewed inspiration on my boat. I'm very interested in your feedback. Thanks!!!

Sorry I missed your post over on my thread. Oops.

I'm a huge fan of our old flatbottom, spray pocketed D-Drive hull. Common logic says the surfwake should suck. It don't. I was so pleased with the new configuration from Sunday I had to post pics. The thing is, its fairly easy to replicate. I mean, the weighing formula is easy. The actual configuration of mine ain't so easy. What it works out to is 50% more on surf side. Just to round it off; 1000# even across the back, 500# on the surfside, none up front, taps 7-8, 11 mph. The 11mph is key. I've been surfing around 10.3, taps 1-2 all season. At 11, taps 7-8, it just cleaned up and got longer and taller. Jackpot! I've ridden a few wakes out there, most impressive being topaz's and next most would be surfdad's Supreme 226. Obviously, mine ain't quite up to that level but, considering what boat I have,it still impresses me.

So, if you we're me, would you spend 6-7k to update my boat, or buy a different boat? Of course I'm open to any other tige owners opinions too. I love my boat. It runs so good, I know how to work on at some. (That's huge, cause I'm not mechanically inclined. I am the 3rd owner, I bought it 2007 with 105 hours on it. It now has about 215 or so. It wold be hard to part with it for sure...

The upgrade is going to be based on what you want to do. With that year boat and it being a DD you will never get the money back out of it. The market for DD's is getting less and less all the time. The new ones that are sold are the slalom boats and thats not a 2200i for sure. In 2 years and about 60 new boats my dealer has yet to sell a DD. Honestly if you are only putting 15-20 hours on a year I would try to just leave it how it is and run it. I know it has that met craft tower, but if its usable leave it. Replace the upholstery that is falling apart and buy sacks with throw over pumps that you can take with to the next boat. We put 12-15 hours on in a three day weekend alot of the time. If you are using it that little I don't think it makes sense to do a 6-7K restore or buy a new boat. IMO.
