Still waiting to hear from Tige. Sent Harvey and Rick a long email last night. I was able to speak to Harvey on the phone today and he was very honest and understanding but the issues are out of his hands.

I am hoping to hear from Rick tomorrow.

After talking to the dealer today the new engine arrived but there mechanic also left on holidays this evening. My wife and I leave on holidays next Friday and it sounds as though we will be going without our boat It is to bad as our 5 year anniversary is on August 27th and we had a big day planned on the lake with our new boat.

Hopefully Rick can help take some of the pain away.

Travism, what was the problem that required a new engine? Just curious since I had to have a new one put in my 2011 last year. It developed a knock at about 120 hrs. After it was pulled and sent back to PCM it turned out to be a scuffed piston in #8 cylinder. I asked what may have caused it and they said it either got hot or it was a manufacturing defect. Since the ECM didn't show any overheat conditions, I guess it must have been a defect. Took mine in at the end of July and it took over 2 months to get it back because it had to be pulled, sent back so PCM could tear it down and find the problem before they would ship a new one out. Sounds like your dealer at least has the engine back and the mechanic at my shop said its only a days work to put one in so hopefully they get you back on the water quick.

I have felt both your pains and could add to the list of frustration which is why I am glad Tige is making the witch to Indmar I was really enjoying the PCM motors up tell 2011, but the last few years in my opinion PCM dropped the ball and had some major issues. The worst part about the situation is it really is out of Tige's hands now I understand it's their product they need to be on the ball but at the end of the day they have no more control over PCM then our dealers or ourselves and frankly PCM acting the way they have been is kind of disappointing. I hope everything can get squared away for you and your family in a timely manner for your vacation. PM if anything were to else were to arise and I will see what I can do or how I can help.

I have to disagree with your statement about PCM.....1000s of Nautiques are sold each year and everyone loves there PCM engines. I for one am a fan of PCM.

lets not forget if a PCM 343 5.7L engine goes down its not PCM, its GMs engine that fails. That will be the same motor that is in indmar, ilmor, and PCM. Tige switched from PCM to Indmar as it was a cost savings. Ever since Mastercraft left Indmar they have lost a big piece market share. You might also take a look at an Ilmor engine and see how there exhaust manifold design is manufactured....same as PCM....Cast, not fabricated. Indmars exhaust manifold design is several hundred dollars cheaper to manufacture then PCM's or Ilmor's as they use fabricated water jacketed manifolds vs the cast units that are machined from PCM.

PCM has also been with Nautique for ever and I think there were issues with just simply taking a PCM motor and dropping it into a Tige as a create motor. I don't see how it's GM's fault that I had to replace a gearbox, transmission, bell-housing, water pump all in 15 hours of having a boat now I do agree that having a valve stick open taking out the #8 Cylinder at 115hrs could be GM's fault but everybody has their own opinion. Thanks for the articles as well my issues have been related to the ZR409 6.0L motor I've never owned the PCM343 5.7L but those from what I have seen have been bullet proof it's just been the larger motors I've personally had issues with.

Yep I agree these were both two different boats but the same ZR409 6.0L but it is what it is and I was fortunate enough to get both things resolved relatively quickly.

My engine basically had the bottom end or top end let go with 37 hours on it. We were running approx. 20-25mph when this happened. It still ran but was hammering away so I had it towed to the dock and pushed it on the trailer. It has been at the dealer since this happened.

That sucks Travis. Come down here for a weekend, its beautiful, we have a guest house 20 mins from the lake. Our Z3 and 2 waverunners in a slip and you and your family can take the Z3 on Lake Oroville. RJ can throw in some clinic time, I feel your pain, you just want to get your family/wife on the water.

BTW, our Z3 has about 1000 hours on it. I am not sure because I think there is a bug in our Tige Touch where it went so high, it now says only like 300 hours or so. We haven't had a single issue with the 409 engine, other than an initial PCM recall issue. Its been great, and this is our 3rd boat with PCM like that.

As someone who works on the engines in the Nautiques and the Tiges we have had the same problems with the engines in both , there is no generic PCM in the Tige they are the same as in the Nautique so that first statement doesnt equate.
