    Boat Docking Question

We are the new proud owners of a 2005 Tige 24v (just got it this weekend). We found the boat through the help of this forum and it's members so thanks to all that helped.

A quick question about keeping the boat in a slip. It states in the manual that Tige does not recommend storing the boat in the water and if you do that you should remove it from the water weekly to avoid serious damage to the hull (blister, etc.). Is this just a "cover your A$$" statement or do I really need to remove it from the water. I have never had a problem with other boats I have owned and kept in a slip. Any thoughts or experience on this??

If you are going to leave it in the water some type of barrier coat or bottom paint is always recommended.

Where are you located? From your username, is it Lake Coeur d'Alene? Just wondering because it seems that most problems with blistering that I've heard about seem to happen in warmer waters. Cold lakes seem to be less of a problem. But just a rough generalization.

The boat is in Hayden Lake just north of Lake Coeur d'Alene. The water is nearly 80 degrees right now.

I only kept my boat in the water for a week at a time on Shasta and never had an issue. Do they have any slips with lifts in them? This would be the best of both worlds.

The statement is more of a CYA so that they can say they warned you about gel coat blisters. Lots of TOs keep their boats in the water around CDA and don't have any issues, and even though Hayden is 80 right now it won't stay that warm for long, and that's really not the 90+ water temp I saw in TX when I kept my old boat in the water. If you have the means a lift is always best but it's not necessary.

I'm on Hayden lake alot, almost every Sunday, what part of the lake do you keep the boat and/or ride. Send me a PM if you want to meet up sometime, or just motor up if you see me out there, I'm the only one with a blue RZ2.

2000 20CI. Missouri Ozarks. My old FGL Century Resorter was kept in the water for years. I used anti-fouling bottom paint and the boat still looks great. My Tige sits on a Hydra Hoist when not in use and the bottom stays nice and beige. I like the Hydra Hoist best because the boat drys out better and W3M_1667.jpg faster. M&M

I kept my 08 24 v on the north end of Hayden last year. I did get small blisters below the water line. (It was definitely blistered, but none bigger than 1/8th inch.) After a cleaning with Lysol toilet bowel cleaner, and letting it sit in storage through the winter, I'm not feeling any of the blisters. I'm docked at the marina at the south end of the lake, and haven't noticed any problems with the gel coat this year. The north end of the lake will really leave a mark (orange) on the boat due to the water issues up there.

We're usually out riding in before 9:00 on the south shores, and at a sandbar (gem shores) or my sisters cabin when it get's crazy. The next few weeks always seem to be the best for that lake, as most people lose their motivation to be on the water with school starting.

I'll be sure to say hello to anyone with a Tige. My boat is white with a black stern.

                Kirk.

There is no option for a boat lift. I am at Hayden Lake Marina. We spend most of our time on the lake at the sandbar for the kids to play. It's cool to know there are some TO forum members on the lake. I bought the boat from ddutcher. A quick shout out to him for all the help putting together a sight unseen purchase and his boat was turn-key and it awesome condition-so thanks again, ddutcher and to the other member that helped find a boat! For those on Hayden, It's grey with black transom and no graphics, just the Tige badge on the side. If you see us, say hello!

I usually take it out of the water for gas and cleaning every week or two (at least that's what we did with out last boat) and let it dry for a day or two when I pull it out.
