The problem with Marine diesel applications is the exhaust aftertreatment system neccasary to meet EPA requirements.

Lol You dont need aftertreatment.. Cummins has gotten cleaner Tier 4 emissions with new cylinder design and tunning with no DPF OR CAT or EGR

That all changes for Tier 5 in 2015. Who is going to spend the time engineering/developing a marine application when it will all have to change in two years? That would be a bad business decision.

I believe there are more diesel's in the marine environment than gas. Only freshwater consumer's piddle around with gas engines in their boats, the rest of the industry is using diesel.

quite possibly, I was directing the diesel talk directly towards the wakeboard boat industry. I have a buddy that works for cummins marine division in NC....cool stuff.

I get diesel for free it would be a wise business decision for me to own a diesel boat. I've been wondering for years if tige would ever put a diesel in their boats

I know little about marine applications but I have spent 9 of my last years working with the EPA, and designing aftertreatment seystems to help engines meet requirements.

The added cost of the diesel wont be recouperated in fuel savings so why would you want it?

why would I want 1000+ ftlbs of torque vs 400 ish ? And I do believe there would be huge savings in a turbocharged diesel

Agree w/ wickedcummins there is no sub for a diesel when it comes to torque. You could put whatever ballast you wanted and it wouldn't matter
