    RZR or RZ2

I'm looking to trade my boat in and pick up either a RZR or RZ2 but cant decide which one. The RZR has the convexV but the RZ2 doesn't. About all we do is surf with the occasional wakeboarding session, and we usually have between 3-10 people but average 5-6. My main concern is the RZR being smaller, both length and width wise, and the surf wave. Opinions are appreciated.

Im coming from a SeaDoo 210 Wake with 1600 lbs of ballast so I know the wave isn't even close to either Tige, but my boat now is 21' long and 102" wide. Will the RZR feel small?

    Thanks,
    Kane Smith

If the average is 5-6... I would go with the RZR. If average is 10....I would go bigger to not be crowded.
RZR holds 12.....however more comfortable with only 10.

10 Adults is tough in the RZR. If its a combo of adults and kids then its OK. Its going to come down to preference. The RZ2 is a much bigger boat and has a significant larger price tag. In my mind bigger is always better if storage and price aren't an option. Do you plan on storing in a garage? What are you towing with? Those are all factors as there is a size difference.

Also keep in mind unless you are looking at the new not yet released RZ2, the old 2013 model is being discontinued. If the price is close on the RZ2 and the RZR its because the dealer is pricing it as an outgoing model. They don't want to be sitting on that when the new 2014 RZ2's show up. That can hurt resale as people look for the latest greatest. If you are looking for a 90% surf boat have you considered the Z1 or Z3? RZR and Z1 are more comparable in price and size. RZ2 and Z3 are more comparable in price and size.

Of coarse I would vote for the RZ2 ! The RZR is plenty capable, but the extra room and the longer taller wave will come from the RZ2. Not to mention lots more room for gear. You can't go wrong either way. There both excellent boats!

We went from a 20v-of course non pickle but other dimensions are same- to a RZ2. Huge difference in size. Even when we dont have alot of people on the boat we appreciate the room. Of course there is a big price difference.

I thought about the Z1 amd Z3 but I really like the looks of the picklefork and my wife and her friends would like the extra room so I'm between these two. Also, towing isn't an issue, I have a chevy 3500. Theyre both 2013 models so I guess ill just have to see what they'll do on the price.

Can the ConvexV be fitted to the RZ2 hull? If so I may just see what it costs to add.

If it's a 2013 it can be installed. Cost is right around $2500 with the new platform. I think you are going to see about a 10-15K(maybe more) difference between the 2 if I recall correctly. I thought about stepping up to the RZ2, but it was a significant price jump.

Just FYI since you said something about wanting extra bow room with the pickle for your wife and her friends. I don't know about the RZ2, but in my RZR I keep adults out of the bow. It doesn't take much weight up there to really have to be careful to not dunk the bow. You have to watch it with just the 400 ballast full up there when cranking up a good surf wave. I've only dunked the bow once, but it was surfing and only had 2 kids totaling about 150 lbs in the bow. As deep as they look on the trailer, the bow rides pretty low in the water, IMO.

As far as I know, the VX can be ordered on any 2013 Tige V drive. So know reason why it couldnt get ordered for an RZ2 if one wanted it.

If you are looking for primarily a surf boat, get the RZ2 and get the VX. Someone asked this similar question, RZR or Z1 here:

                  http://www.tigeowners.com/forum/show...or-wakesurfing

If you read my answer there, I would make the same argument for the RZ2 over the RZR, the RZ2 has the better transition and if you are primarily surfing, it makes a difference.

As far as the Z1, I will be posting pictures and video in a day or two but we finally got a full weekend with a Z1 and we put in our Z3 custom sacs in it to see what the wake would do. It was incredible, RJ loved it and I can easily say its at LEAST as good as the Z3. There is no compromise getting the Z1 instead of the Z3, just get which one is best for the room you need. Its a great wake, competition level, incredible wake when dialed in.

And this weekend was RJ's 18th birthday. We had friends from the area come down for his birthday to fulfill his birthday wish. He wanted to ride a bunch of great wakesurf boats in one day.

                  1. Our Z3
                  2. Kyle's Z1 weighted with our Z3 sacs
                  3. Harrington's Supreme, well weighted
                  4. 2012 MB B-52, dialed, great wake
                  5. 2007 24Ve, dialed, our old boat
6 Centurion Air Warrior (Enzo couldn't make it)

Not to mention all the other boats he has ridden. He would have taken the Z1 home with him. Anyway, food for thought. The RZ2 with VX would be my choice over RZR.

Can't wait to share all the pics and video from this weekend, tons of fun.

I appreciate everyone's input. Hopefully I'll be able to go look at them tomorrow and get some prices.

I vote RZ2, but I am biased since I have owned mine since '07. I have adults in the bow all of the time and don't have any issues with dunking them but you do have to do things a little more carefully or they will get wet.

Boardman the 2013 style RZ2 is not being discontinued. They are adding a 22.5ft wakeboarding boat with a pickle fork to the line up but they are keeping the RZ2 in the line up. This is what I was told by Tony Fussel.

As for the OP's original question I would go with the RZ2 all day long over the RZR even if you only take 5-6 people out. I have never once wished my boat was smaller. I have definitely wished it was bigger.

Yup I think I would go crazy with anything smaller than My RZ2...

I guess I'll just have to go see what they'll do price wise on the RZ2. Y'all just reassured me on what I was thinking.
